I think one might be clever, make it look like a new BMW :)

What do they do?

I think they're used on rally car to give downforce while sliding round bends.
Might be totally wrong though

What do they do?

The theory is that they generate vortices that "stick" the air going over the roof to the car which in turn hits the rear spoiler and creates more downforce on cars with a saloon shape.

You can read the Mitsubishi research article on the link below, it's quite interesting:

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/corporate/about_us/technology/review/e/pdf/2004/16E_03.pdf

As you can see they went into quite a bit detail on the old vorticity distribution measurements to ensure what they were doing was applicable to the car they were doing it on... something the "stick on" aftermarket market are unlikely to have bothered with in their pursuit of profit.

If you like the look of these I guess it's a suitable way to achieve your (bizarre) goal, if you are buying them because they improve the airflow in the same way as they do on the EVO (and other cars of a similar shape) you need to do a bit more thinking / take your specific car to the wind tunnel.

Personally I think they look w@nk.
