best wet weather tyres

what would you guys recommend to be a good wet weather tyre as i was driver around today and the back end was all over the place and that was at low speed o and there Michelin sports so not a crap make

Pulled away from a set of traffic lights this morning on a roundabout and the back end came right out.

 

When these are finished I'll be getting some Eagle F1s.

i know what you mean this tyres are great in the dry but in the wet well let just say Ive never done so much drifting in my life it was like driving on ice

Toyo TR1's, work very well in the wet and exlent in the dry.

I like Bridgestone SO2s. Use them on the 964 and put rears on the Supra a few weeks ago. On a wet road, I floored it from a standing start yesterday (not slipping the clutch or anything) and the rear wheels didn't even spin. I was well impressed.

always found eagle f1's great in all weather, but they were they only tyres i bought for the supe.

 

avons have always worn out very quickly on other cars, but are a softer tyre

I use the T1-R's too and find them spot on.

Cheaper than the F1's as well

F1-GSD3, RLTC and a right foot that isn't made of lead.

 

I think that covers all the bases.

Ditto, lol. So far, the wear rate seems pretty good - certainly comparable to the Goodyears but way better grip all round.

Honest Advice......

 

Buy the crapiest(if thats a word) tyres you can for the wet,

 

Reason...

 

you will tread even more carefully than you would with your 200quid a tyre, therefore you wont cane it in the wet and you wont be in a position to correct it when the back steps out! Furthermore you will get to keep your sup over the winter!

 

Plus, their usually good for drifting;)

That's got to be the stupidest & most dangerous advice I've heard to date. Budget tires on a RWD high performance car in the wet is just asking for trouble. Go look at how many crash threads get posted up each winter, it's quite scary.

Can't remember exactly what I paid but it was around £80 per front tyre from http://www.mytyres.co.uk with the rears being a bit more

 

I've also heard black circles is a good site to check

I got a pair of 245x40x17 & a pair of 265x40x17 for just over £400 from tiresite.co.uk I think. That's not far off the price I got quoted for ONE Michelin Pilot Sport for the rear!

Yep MyTyres are always a good bet for prices. I had Pirelli P-Zeros on mine and found them very good indeed.

well i think all the good weather is now behind us now so will have to start saving for some good tyres for the rain and snow for those bad days:( thanks again for all the good info and link guys.
