Hi all,

Been following Pixelfills guide that converts the brake lights to fog lights, which might I add is an excellent guide (thanks). All wired up correctly as I checked everything 4 times when assembling.

I may be jumping the gun a bit here but thought I'd test that the lights worked the way they used to before installing the switch. However, I put the lights on and the middle two show as fog's.

Will this be cured when I install the switch? Surely it shouldn't make any difference with no switch installed, they should behave as normal.....?

Hope someone can help me, don't want to have to take it all out again! :(

Have you re-checked the wiring, and are all the connections to ground made?

The only suggestion I have is that the relays are wired backwards or the relays are normally closed rather than nornally open?

Are the relay part numbers the same as listed on the howto thread?

Thanks for the reply, I'm 99.9% sure it's all wired in correctly. One bit that may have got confused is the two wires that bridge both relays, the wires look similar, but one is an earth and one goes to the dash switch. If these were swapped over would it give the problems i've been describing?

I'll double check later if I get some time. Got my MOT in a few weeks so need to get this working.

Edit: Is it possible the relays could be buggered? Is there an easy way of testing them?

Thanks.

Dan.

:) Fixed it, the wires on pin 30 were the wrong way round.

There is an inconsistency with what is written in the text and what is shown on the diagram. It currently reads:

7a) Connect the marked G wire to pin 30 of relay 1
7b) Connect the marked Gw wire to pin 30 of relay 2

This should be:

7a) Connect the marked G wire to pin 30 of relay 2
7b) Connect the marked Gw wire to pin 30 of relay 1

Apart from that hiccup, it's an excellent guide ;)

I'll go and check the thread, but it is quite possible that I made a typo.

Glad you got it sorted buddy

Have just thoroughly checked through the thread, and as you suspected there was a typo. I have now fixed it.

The pictures and the diagram were correct but the text may have contained a teeny weeny slight untruth :imsorry:

Thanks for pointing it out
