Hammerite smooth - but make sure you prep the surface properly first.

 

I'd also recommend you use high-heat lacquer to seal it in as Hammerite does discolour over time. Not to mention making it easier to clean.

 

Whats the best way to prep, Wirebrush and turps maybe ?

Some fairly coarse wet and dry will do the trick. ;)

 

Yup, I concur.

 

A bit of scrubbing with a wire brush to get the majority of the muck off, some wet 'n' dry to clean and smooth the surface down a little.

 

Use the hammerite sparingly as it tends to drip under its own weight.
