Removing the mph converion ?

They say its a small device installed at the harness behind the dash, so in order to get the car back to km, speedo and odo. Then i just remove it from the harness right ?

It'll be attached to 3 of the 4 screws holding your speedo in place with ring terminals, also you'll have another 2 wires from the delimiter mph converter connected to 2 respective wires on the loom end of a connector to the back of the speedo.

Simply unscrew the 3 screws that have the 3 wires connected to the back of the speedo using a philips, and disconnect the 2 additional wires to the loom, you must then reconnect the 2 loom wires to the respective 'cut' wires on the plug end of the loom.

Job done.

One question though.... why do that as it'll also re-enable your top speed limiter of 180kmh (112mph)

The mph converter is also a delimiter.

Sounds like you're describing a specific model of speed converter. Others exist that are fitted differently. *I think* some exist that are fitrted into the transmission tunnel, although they're unusual.

Also, not all speed converters double-up as SLDs. :)

Yes you do have a valid point there, I'm only going on past experiences, in all I have owned 17 various japanese import cars over the years being 4 MR2's, 1 Eunos roadster, 1 GTO, 8 skylines, 1 Fairlady Z, and 2 Supras, these have all been relitavely the same type of chip which has also delimited the car apart from the eunos roadster which had a mechanical converter that connected to the gearbox and didn't act as a SLD.

You are right in saying that not all converters act as SLD's as some don't, I've just found that the most common electronic delimiters do.

Still interested to know why he would want it out though?
