Guest slothmeister
hi guys, new poster but long time reader. I've got it into my head over the last few weeks that i am going to buy a supra, i've had a look at one today and just wanted a few opinions and what to look out for tomorrow when i take it for a test drive, what are the most common things to go wrong? what should i ask about it? TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0 5SPEED MANUAL, Manual 5 speed, 1993 L Reg, Black. 18" alloys, Cat 1 alarm, remote locking alarm, Air conditioning, de - limited, mileage was either 90000 k/mh or mph, didn't ask which. JustGav
Do you have any more pictures such as of the engine bay? That sort of thing. The NA's are strong cars to be fair, and not a lot really goes wrong with them.... Is it private or trade? I would suggest taking it for an MOT or asking the seller to take it to an MOT centre of your choice, and you will pay for the MOT. Oh yes, and price... Guest slothmeister
sorry no more pictures, will try and get some tomorrow, full mot till march, service history since it's been in the uk. It's a trade. Oh and the price was £4795, but i could probably get it down a bit.

Oh and the price was £4795, but i could probably get it down a bit. If it is trade, I'd definitely ask for a fresh MOT at a garage of your choice.. I'm not saying anything about any specific people in the car trade, but MOT's can be done for 'friends'.... £4.7 isn't a bad price for an NA, but if you can get cheaper. Whereabouts in hampshire, I'm sure there would be a member in whichever area you are in.

JustGav
I'm sure if you ask nicely there are some nice supra owners down Bournemouth way who would go along and have a look with you, or perhaps may know the dealership.
Chris Wilson
You could buy a tidy TT for that. You need to be looking elsewhere unless you need to do a p/ex, or have finance on the purchase.
matt k
Buy a TT or you will just end up regretting buying the N/A, I bought an Auto SZ because it looked amazing and i thoroughly enjoyed the car until i got beaten by a Mini cooper s works:(. I then bought a TT and have never regretted that......I just got power hungry and fitted a single turbo.
PaulD76
Hi Funnily enough I looked at this Supra last night with a mate who is thinking of buying one.. as it was about 10pm we couldnt really look that much, but it seemed in good conditions. One thing I did notice where the lights were in mint condition, which is a good (but small) sign. The body worked looked good condition. Wheels looked a tiny bit small... but gernally nice.. some kirbing but not major. Not sure about this Garage tho, its only been there a relatively short time.. some of their cars seem nice tho. Dont worry to much that its an NA. I got an NA and love it big time.. I dont mind that is slower, its still a beautiful looking car that gets a lot of respect. And £4.7k is pretty cheap for something that would put a smile on ur face each day. I dont regret buying a NA at all.... Im sure a TT is much quicker but i spend most of my time stuck in traffic anyway

PaulD76
It is West Moors but they have a spot in Christchurch now next to the Train Station. They usually have about 30 - 40 Jap cars.. always have 1-2 Supras.. Recently they had a very pricey White NA for about 9k. Mind it was really modified.. however it seemed pricey to me..I found this car on Autotrader also, but only one photo (Which isnt a great one)
Guest slothmeister
right then, so i went out for a test drive this morning, and i loved it, couldn't hear anything wrong with it, no bumps, rattles, squeeks. Started up from cold with no problems, no smoke, no leaks seen on floor. No damage to it, slight paint cracking on drivers side off bumper. The car has yet to be valeted yet so i was looking at it in its raw state. Inside needs a bit of cleaning to it, as the guy was a chippie so there's still a few bits of wood chippings around. I went out with my mate who used to work in the motor trade, so he told me what to look out for and the right questions to ask, and he said he also couldn't see anything visibly wrong with it, in fact if he hadn't just brought a new motor he would have snapped it up. A couple of better pics:
