Following events recently aswell as historic, might be a good idea for those mapping cars to post in a thread especially for them to allow them to introduce themselves and, more importantly, list their credentials and history.

Mapping is SUCH an important part of a well balanced and reliable highly tuned car that I feel we should know more about the person doing the mapping. Also, the consequences of poor mapping can be both expensive and, more importantly, down right dangerous.

I for one would like to know more about those tuning our cars for commercial gain. We have to accept that the mapper has no liability should it go :bang: but I think it's right I know who trained the mapper and what experience he has.

So, if a trader is to become authorised then we should at that point request full details on the traders tuner, whether it be Thor, Turbofit, Miami-GT, Sumo etc etc etc.

Those mapping cars that aren't traders are exempt from this as if a board member opts to use someone outside of the authorised traders then that is up to them.

Fully agree..

The slight problem with this is that most tuning houses don't have an in house mapper. This poses some issues. However I do agree with some sort of database regarding mappers, perhaps even a 2nd itrader style thing on the tuner. Problem is a lot of the mappers won't want to sign up as traders and pay the traders fee.

Maybe lone mappers could setup as hobbyists ? At least we'd get some info on them on which to decide.

I think it's a bit off for "mappers" to use this forum to stealthily promote their products, threaten legal action against the club, because members have expressed an opinion about their products despite that fact that they themselves have denounced other manufacturers products and not even pay a traders fee.

Fair?

All imo of course. :innocent:

Fair?

Absolutely, anyone doing this would probably be regarded as a bit of a two-faced snake though so it's unlikely to happen.

Isn't it? :innocent:

I'm not so sure about this business about not accepting liability. It's not up to the person doing the work as to whether they accept liability or not, it's up to the courts to decide.
I for one would like to see more checks and safeguards put in place though. For example any trader on here, who does work on customers cars should, as part of the membership application process have to prove that they have sufficient liability insurance.
Perhaps a trader is supplying parts should show that they have suitable insurances put in place as well. Maybe they should also all be ISO 9001/2 (can't remember which it is!) certified.
I don't know if this kind of thing already happens, so please forgive me if I'm telling granny how to suck eggs.

But Tony, Dan isn't a trader on here. ;)

But new & existing traders can be subject to a visit at anytime as per the traders terms & conditions.
