VIL
Going in for a bit of a major service on the car and just wondered if I need to change the hand brake shoes as part of replacing the rear discs? I have had the car for 5 yrs and they have not been changed during the time I have owned it. Is it good form to change the shoes when doing the discs or do they rarely need changing? michael
You probably won't *need* to but I'd change them anyway.
Pete
Rarely need doing. If your handbrake works fine then don't worry. Inspection can be done when you change the rear discs/pads. May be a problem if you've driven with the handbrake on accidentally.
RedM
An absolute pita to get them on properly without bits 'pinging' all over the place.
