Try clearing your cache of cookies and temp internet files then see how you get on.
Those files are empty as pc was wiped prior to guy selling it to me - but will re - do
cheers for advice
Sounds like the same problem I was getting. Damanc advised me to try Firefox instead of windows which has done the trick.

I'm also a layman:D If I get this wrong I'm sure somebody will be over to correct me;) At the moment you are opening your Internet using Windows and every time you want to shut a page or tab you get a message saying WINDOW EXPLORER HAS INCOUNTERD A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO SHUT, which takes you off the Internet? If this is what you are getting then it was the same as me. Firefox is another server which from what I have been told and from what I have found is much better. Here is a link to the site (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/) to down load, or if it is already on your computer I guess you just need to change your settings to run off it?
Just to correct something said there, Firefox isnt actually a server. Firefox is just (in my opinion) a better version of Internet Explorer. Comes with a built-in popup blocker and loads more stuff, doesnt crash like Internet Explorer either!
Firefox is just a different web browser, open it and you'll see it has a similar layout to Internet Explorer but wont give you stupid problems :)
