People who like to keep they're engine revs at the right range when changing. :)

I see. I went on a driving course a few years ago and my instructer called that sustained rev gear change.

It easy enough when changing down but I can't seem to get the change up right.

Hence the talent mate. It's effin hard to do this quickly enough to matter.

Rally drivers know. And point to point they are the quickest people I know.

I never double de clutch but do blip the thottle (heel & toe) to bring the engine to the correct speed before releasing the clutch on harder downshifts. It makes for a much smoother drive :)

Thats what I do. Some times do it when coming to a stop (scares the crap out of the chavs in front)

Is it just a double tap on the clutch before changing gear then?

Double de clutching means shifting to neutral, releasing the clutch, rev the engine, depress clutch then shif to another gear. It's pointless on modern gearboxes.

It's a throw back to the old days when cars didn't have syncro mesh.

The best ever clip of this is from Bullitt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36MFh4of6lE

Go to about 2.50 minutes, turn your speakers up and listen to that V8 :D
