Thought i'd put a little info up about the NA - TT conversions we're doing. We have just completed our 5th conversion in as many weeks. Very straight forward process and we average 2 full days from start to finish.
One particular member's reaction when i took him for a demonstration in his freshly transplanted auto TT was something along the lines of 'Holy mother of cock i'm going to die!'
We supply the complete conversion for £2000 should you wish to fit yourself or arrange instalation with another garage, or we can supply and fit for £3000.
We can also BPU the car at the same time, the current conversion we're doing has had FMIC, and de-cat, and we have AEM ECU's, Uego wide band units, and tru boost controllers on the shelf.
All parts and fitting work is warranted by ourselves should any related problems arise.

Feel free to call if you wish to discuss your needs, 01327 858000 or 07779 725350.

Great Price Jezzy, works out quite a bit cheaper than NA-T.

Is this a engine transplant from a TT to NA or a NA-T kit matey?
TT would be a twin, but most kits I have seen are singles.

Are any of the conversions for members on here? I'm just wondering what experience they had with insurance.

It sounds like a transplant to me ;)

This is a TT transplant Ed. We take a TT donor lump, fit new cam belt, aux belt, completely flush oil and water and replace with fresh fluids, and fit new plugs. We also use the donor cars ancilliaries (ignitor unit, power steering reservoir etc). The only difference under the hood compared to a factory TT, is the missing ABS unit. Might also be worth adding that we only like to use sub 80k engines as donors. :)

Yeah. Not sure what they did about insurance though. I'm sure Jim_supra will throw some light on that for us? :D

My insurance was a bit of an odd one really. I did the conversion just as my years insurance was due to run out.

I completed the conversion and told the insurance company and they quoted me around £200 less than what they wanted on the renewal they sent through, which was for it still being an NA:)

so let me get this straight, its £200 cheaper to insure an NA with a TT engine than just an NA???

im guessing that doesnt include a 6 speed box :)

Not at that price. :D Seperately, fitted, they work out at £3000 for the TT conversion, and £3000 for the 6 speed conversion. But i'm sure we could do some sort of deal for £4.5k - £5k ish. Probably a bit of a silly option as thats nearly 6 speed TT money anyway. You'd have to really love your chassis to do both.

Guys there are some 6 speed NA's going for £5-6K

These are all Facelifts generally low miles, all have ABS LSD's some have UK brakes, NA engine and bits would fetch at least £300 (i'd give you that for it if i could drive it pre swap). Possible downside is they are geared for 150-160 top end...........but look at the price Facelift 6 speed TT's go for.........

all i'm trying to get across is that it will be at a fair few higher revs when at a particular speed/gear than a stock manual TT.....

can you have the twin turbo engine transplant with a 5 speed gear box or are they all either auto or six speed

The one we're currently doing has kept its 5 speed box. Obviously a new uprated clutch has been used, and the 5 speed is only a temporary measure until a getrag unit is sourced.

Why? Most j-spec TT's run the same brakes as N/A's. Only the UK cars had different brakes. All Jap models got the 2 pot fronts and 1 pot rears. ;)

Being local, i'd even collect your car, and drop it off 100bhp heavier. :D

Depends to what extent you want mate. Pump, de-cat with RR and fmic with hard pipes come in at around £600 fitted.

I'd say you wouldnt need to worry about it on a stock TT. Its torque that kills them, so big powers a no no, and i'd uprate to a getrag 6 speed before going single etc. ;)

can the standard NA autobox take the conversion or does it need uprating?

TT autobox is included in that price mate. NA box will turn to a cheesey substance with a TT lump attached to it. ;)

heya, a couple of questions: £3000 includes the autobox, does the price change if you keep your 5 speed manual box? and what happens to your old engine is it part of the deal for you to keep it or would you knock a little off to keep it?! :d

Jezz

The autobox is pretty much thrown in on the deal. So the price is the same for using your own 5 speed box, as we have to order in an uprated clutch, so the price works out even either way. ;) You're more than welcome to have your NA engine back, but obviously you'd need to arrange transport of it. We cant give NA engines away at the mo, there's just no call for them. :search:
