View Full Version : How Do
Only recently spotted this forum. I am the proud owner of a unique UK Spec Supra TT Auto. It is the only UK model that has been manufactured in a metallic brown bodywork & beige leather interior. I bought it when it was a mere 2 months old via RRG Toyota who have serviced it religously throughout its years.
I've had 100K+ miles of pure pleasure from this beast & can recall many mad moments that I wouldn't get away with today.:p
As I am reluctantly (ill health) looking to get a more sedate means of transport, I look forward to checking out this forum for advise & comments on other members experiences.
GR8 Work...Keep it up
The colour sounds horrific but welcome aboard :)
I need to see some photos of the car, what's the history behind it being in that colour? I didn't think Toyota went for custom orders like that, was it resprayed on arrival in the UK or at the factory?
welcome to the club aby pics?
Welcome mate. Some pics would definitely be good!
:welcome:
As everyone else says, we need pics :)
Shame to hear you may be getting rid of it :(
The guys @ RRG told me that this is a standard Toyota colour & according to their records was requested by the previous celebrity owner, only to get rid of it after six weeks as his wife kept laddering her tights when getting in to drive the beast!!!
Although the colour does sound horrific, I can tell you that with the metallic finish.... its a real head turner.
I intend to d/l some pics pretty soon (following a wash+wax)

Hi

Welcome,
I was going to say MSB too. Who was the celebrity owner?
:) Welcome fellow NW member ive seen a soop ( pictures not in the flesh ) in that color before does look nice IMO, sorry your having to sell it,but theres loads of advice etc etc on here for you ;)
Cheers
Ian
Hey guys be gentle with me, who/what is MSB (most significant bit??) You may know the previous owner by his catchphrase "Look what you could have won"
The company I worked for at the time booked him for a gig @ the Belfry @ £80/minute....nice work if you can get it, but just look at what you could have got!!!
Jim Bowen? Never! "Supra, smashing, lovely"......
MSB=Monkey Sh1t Brown.
Welcome to the club
Sounds like it is paint code 1A1, Dark Brownish Grey, anthracite, affectionately known as MSB/Monkey Shit Brown :) One of the rarest colours especially for the UK spec.
Any :Pics:
hi welcome to the club mate.theres a metalic brown/bronze aerotop not far from me.looks quite nice when its clean.
Do we have any pictures yet?

Yeah, and the contestant on Bullseye weren't the sort to need a speedboat outside their council house in Macclesfield.
Nice try. Now read the :rulez: and pay your tenner to advertise your car for sale. Or try autotrader, we're cheaper though. ;)
Do we have any pictures yet?
I wonder if it's that one (was it?) Mr Wiffin was selling and we banged on about it being brown, and he denied it and then deleted our posts? :d
selling already?
i asume this is mr bowens car? Wouldnt call it brown... its gunmetal :p
I might sell mine in my newbie thread, if that day ever comes... like a mini lifetime of Supra ownership... :)
Hi :hi: .... well, bye.... :bye:
I thought MSB = metallic silver bronze, or was that a rumour I heard and remembered from some reason?
Welcome BTW. :)
Oh that's msb. it's not as bad as I'd imagined.:d Nice looking car mate Good luck with the sale.
This is one of the remaining 600+ that was UK built UK built? I don't think so.
I thought MSB = metallic silver bronze, I'm sure that's a "backronym" that MSB owners came up with to explain away what MSB really stands for.
Wouldnt call it brown... its gunmetal It's not Gunmetal. Deffo MSB.
I'm sure that's a "backronym" that MSB owners came up with to explain away what MSB really stands for.
Backronym :rlol: Haven't heard that before.:D
Anyway as I'm a bastard and I spy a for sale post in this thread, (good one eh thought we wouldn't notice) I've kindly removed it.
:rulez:
UK built? I don't think so.
Pedantic. Built/Assembled. Or can you enlighten me?
Why should Insurance companies charge a extra £500 for all the Jap "built" imports, if "UK Supra built parts" are obviously cheaper? After all, its a far better spec car than the common or garden import versions. Or amarrang

 Busted!:D
Pedantic. Built/Assembled. Or can you enlighten me? You are right that I'm pedantic. The reason for that is because I don't like seeing things stated as fact that are incorrect. I don't mean to offend you by being like it but if you take it that way.... oh well
Anyway, I'm pretty sure all all Supras, regardless of UK Spec, JSpec, US spec, were built/assembled/whatever you want to call it, in Japan.
Why should Insurance companies charge a extra £500 for all the Jap "built" imports, if "UK Supra built parts" are obviously cheaper? The parts aren't obviously cheaper though. 99% of the parts are the same between uk and j-spec Supras.
After all, its a far better spec car than the common or garden import versions. You may think so. The cars do have different specs and each spec has its benefits. Some of the UKs so-called spec advantages are not desirable to many of us.
:more:This is better than watching eastenders.
j spec supra and proud of it.
OK, so you're pretty sure, (or are you sure pretty)!!, can anyone confirm such as fact......also
1% equals :-
Larger steel (not Ceramic) Turbos - More durable
Larger 550cc fuel injectors
Larger 12.6" spiral vented discs with 4 pot front and 2 pot rear callipers with supra logos.
Larger oil and transmission coolers
Glass - Not plastic headlights - with heated washer jets
Vented bonnet - To improve fuel consumption
Larger 17" alloy wheels - With angled spokes to improve cooling
All options available on the Japanese models were standard on the UK model - The UK model cost in 1994 a staggering £43,000!!
You obviously enjoy the thrill of speed & power, but I've enjoyed the same for the past 10+ years & am reluctantly selling such a beast to the right person.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong sub-forum, however as the thread suggested more pics....I couldn't resist such a temptation...could you would you?
Larger steel (not Ceramic) Turbos - More durable Larger? Define larger?
Larger 12.6" spiral vented discs with 4 pot front and 2 pot rear callipers with supra logos. My j-spec has those.
Larger oil and transmission coolers Where is this larger transmission cooler on your auto UK spec?
Vented bonnet - To improve fuel consumption
To improve MPG is it? ;) How does it do that then?
Larger 17" alloy wheels - With angled spokes to improve cooling Same as most j-specs then.
All options available on the Japanese models were standard on the UK model Oh really? The UK has REAS suspension does it? Carbon fibre steering wheel?
The UK model cost in 1994 a staggering £43,000!! That would perhaps be staggering if it was true. It's not true though.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong sub-forum, however as the thread suggested more pics....I couldn't resist such a temptation...could you would you?
No you're not. You thought you'd try it on. People asked to see pics because you claimed you had such a unique Supra. It wasn't an invitation for you to use it as a platform to post a for sale post.
And the UK-Jspec debate has gone on many a time on here, it's hardly considered sport anymore.

The famous MPG improving bonnet scoop, eh? I've never heard such tosh!

New one on me too.
well i thought he knew what he was on about, but i pride myself in knowing nothing
Is this a newbie vs ITrader debate? As I said in my intro', I'm new to this arena & I welcome your support & advice.
Maybe its turned out to be " I want your tenner" & don't upset the Traders & moderators, there's a surplus of Jap Supras out there!!!

What does itrader have to do with anything?!
i think alot of people on here are a bit wary of new members as theres so many blaggers out there, i have only been on here since march and now they all have made me feel like one of there own, always there to answer questions and that, s*it,....i love you guys... also, i think its near on impossible to upset the mods. i love you guys too

Sounds like its cut n paste from a list from an Autotrader ad doesnt it. I kinda see what hes saying if you were comparing a standard trim UK car with a standard JDM model with no options added I spose (edit, not everything stated was factually accurate of course ;) ).

I'm not upset. Nothing personal but why should I make allowances for you? This isn't a free hosting service for you to sell your car. When you signed up, you agreed to the terms and conditions.
You're welcome to help and advice, BUT there are people here who won't have the wool pulled over their eyes. ;)
So, if you want to post up a "for sale" thread then you'll have to pay just like everyone else has to. If you don't want to, the try somewhere else. Sorry, but that's how it is.
And how does the bonnet scoop improve mpg?
:wtf:
:yeahthat: Whats Itrader got to do with this conversation? Or is it something only Uk spec owners will understand? :search:
And how does the bonnet scoop improve mpg?
and where can i get one?

Rob, clearly, you should think about being a politician!!! you think, (therefore you don't know) it has very little (OK then...how much?) to do with the traders on here...
Next time you hear a politician speak on TV, count the number of times you hear the word "think", "very little" & the most overused word..."clearly"!!!!

Explain how you selling a UK spec car without registering and abiding by the rules, and furthermore claiming wild theories has a single thing to do with the traders on this forum!

I'd rather have a JSpec than a UK. I know you got more with a uk Spec, but its been on this shitty island for over 10 years and that has to be bad for rust, they weren't MPH restricted and held to the strict MOT/servicing that the Japs are!!
I have an n/a and need more horses, i'll haveone of those bonnets!!!
Tell you what, not dissing the UK guys or anything, i'll take a picture of the underside / front and rear subframes on one of my UK cars, then i'll take pictures of the same on a J-spec. Now, the Japanese ones are nice and black, but the UK's look slightly different. Perhaps the 'brown flakey rust' was a UK car option? :D
Sorry fella but you're talking total bollocks. Toyotas dont rust like you think. My old mans still got his 15 year old beater Carina E which has no rust whatsoever, and thats been around the block a fair few times.
(meant for chilly - Jezzy always talks bollocks and he knows it ;) :D )

You're both off my xmas card list.
Not that either of you were on it anyway you pair of fuckers. :D
Na, they dont rust that bad. Being sat in the elements for 5 years doesnt help. ;)
True, but thats why the came undersealed to deal with it :) Plus, we know why few JDM cars apparently dont rust.. cos they're covered in plastic body kits :D
You're still on my card list ;)
is this still for sale....? :innocent:

The rules are there for a reason, for all we know you are a car trader coming on here trying to flog a car you have in stock. £10 membership is cheap to advertise a car to a captive audience of Supra fanatics.
Larger steel (not Ceramic) Turbos - More durable
Here are photos (courtesy of JB) of the UK spec vs J-spec internal. The UK spec is the smaller one on the left of the pic ;)
http://www.btinternet.com/~branners/resources/turbo/010804-003.jpg
Larger 550cc fuel injectors
There is zero benefit of the 550cc injectors on a stock Supra, even when increasing the power, the J-spec 440cc injectors are able to supply sufficient fuel for 400+hp. Bigger injectors don't make a car more powerful or faster ;)
Larger 12.6" spiral vented discs with 4 pot front and 2 pot rear callipers with supra logos.
Standard also on many J-spec Supra models.
Vented bonnet - To improve fuel consumption
Again how does is it do that?
Larger 17" alloy wheels - With angled spokes to improve cooling
Standard also on many J-spec Supra models. Please can you post pics of the angled spoke design on the 17" and how it differs from the 16".
You obviously enjoy the thrill of speed & power, but I've enjoyed the same for the past 10+ years & am reluctantly selling such a beast to the right person.
You should try a J-spec Supra sometime, you might be pleasantly surprised how much quicker the larger ceramic turbos spool up ;)

fredd1e fella if you are not joining the then stick your car on another site, try these, www.autotrader.co.uk or even www.ebay.co.uk coz if your not going to pay the subs fee like a lot of us have your not going to get the time of day, and to come on here and try and tell a community of supra nutters what is what your just making yourself look daft i almost feel embarrassed for you myself

Id never want to sign up here again lol!!!
bottom line was the uk cars were spec'd by toyota to be more durable.........and up to the higher constant speeds that thought they'd see.

Have to say though I am very surprised at the colour. I have never seen an MSB UK spec ever, and thats proper ever. He says at the start that this is the only one (maybe thats right huh). He's paid his dues now apparently so play nice now guys. Maybe a bit more informative and less lynching a style can be applied :D :D Also looking at the price you are getting a fairly reasonable deal if its in as good a nick as it looks in the pics. Also if he really is the only owner from 2 months old and it does have a full toyota history its worth every penny of the asking price regardless of ridiculous claims.
