Just got off the phone to 3 and they cant give me either of the 2 phones i want as an upgrade so im going to cancel my contract next month and start a new one.

The 2 phones i fancy, but cant decide between are:

Nokia N95

Chunky and ugly but packed with features and GPS

Samsung U600

http://uk.samsungmobile.com/wcms/products/phones/phonedata/design/UK-SGH-U600.jsp

Not quite as many features but still a 3.2Mp camera, but much nicer to look at.

If im honest ive always been a Nokia man, got an N70 at the moment with Tom Tom on it so could, if i got the samsung still use the GPS on this one, but must admit i do love the look of the samsung. Camera not really a selling point for me as ive got a DSLR for photos, as long as the camera is half decent then im happy.

Im planning on trying them both in the shops this or next weekend but has anyone had any experience of either of them. I know a few people on here have the N95 so come on what are they like.

N95 is good, if I wan't on unlimited Web & Walk I'd probably think a lot less of it. I'm a lot happier now I'm using CoPilot instead of Nokia Maps - my only real gripe is the lack of touchscreen and having to learn predictive text / button bashing again after a PDA style one.

Latest firmware fixes a lot of bugs, battery life still isn't great when used to it's full potential and the sliding front is easy to move in your pocket, this in turn releases the key lock and uses the battery. I think you can set it up differently though.

Others I'd consider are the E-TEN Glofish M700 or M500, Xda Orbit and Mitac Mio A701 but you might have to buy them outright and then stick them on a contract.

My brothers got the N95 and its a very good phone and packed with goodies and even a 5 mega pixle camara but like you said all these toys come at a price and thats in the form of size on this phone , its like having a 20 deck in ya pocket .

i like the u600 but i can see this becoming very popular and every tom , dick and harry having it .

I'm in the same place as you at the moment as i'm wanting a new phone , I'm quite liking the samsung E840 , Check out the "dial a phone" website theres some great deals on and most are still 12 month contracts and not this 18 month rubbish which is also a no no in my eyes .

Hmmm those PDA style phones look good but must admit that all the techno lingo is lost on me and i genuinely dont know if id use all the features, plus if it has microsoft software on it then its bound to crash regularly. The one thing that appeals to me about the N95, and im sure the PDA's have it as well, is that you can browse the "actual" internet (html instead of wap).
