cleaning Chrome engine parts

hi there every one. i have brought some really nice chrome parts, they have been in a engine bay at a scrap yard. the bloke had no idea so i got a really good price.

 

the only problem is that it has seat in the yard with no bonnet. so it has got a lot of stubben rain marks and what looks lime scale.

 

any ideas

 

i get some photos asap.

Use normal car polish on a soft rag if its chrome or if its polished ally depending how stained the parts are.

Pictures of the parts would def help

 

They sound to me like just polished if thats the case then use Autosol or similar then just work them with a soft cloth, they may be too far gone though and might need to be buffed to remove the oxidisation of the ally.

 

If the parts are chromed then a chrome polish shuch as "brilliant" would bring them back to lustre.

 

I wouldn't recommend a polishing kit on chrome parts, you are likely to buff the chrome off back down to its nickel layer if you aren't careful !
