Hi all have a TT auto with Blitz front mounted intercooler NUR R spec exhaust FCon silver box and a Blitz induction kit. My Local Japanese specialists have recommended I go for uprated cams...will give me a great price on a set of Jun that they ordered by mistake...uprated injectors and fuel pump...hard pipes to the intercooler ..either steel internals on the existing turbo's or new turbo's and a boost controller....I currently have a slight oil leak on the second blower.....Looking for some advice on how this sound and maybe some suggestions please  ???

Double decat will give you the biggest power gain over any type of cams....who told you this info?? Are you BPU now? Steel iternals would be hybrids, might be worth doing a fair bit of reading on Hybrids and BPU...if your losing some oil at the mo though I would'nt go BPU and further stress your stock turbos

Follow the link on BPU. Thats might help you as to what spec your car is now.

When your specialist says they want to uprate the turbos to steel internals, that means he wants to fit hybrids. Do a search on hybrids. Loads on info there.

The type of work that your specialist is offering you will cost you £000's

Does that mean you currently have a FMIC without hard pipes then? That's very unusual.

Not that hard pipes do anything anyways.

500hp for £2.5k is just not possible. To get that sort of power you'll need to replace the turbo system with a single turbo kit, but you're looking at closer to £10k for that (including all the ancillaries required).

I wouldn't fit hybrid turbos as a performance upgrade, if your stock turbos are running fine. On stock turbos the most you'll be able to get out of them would be around 430hp max, but this will take a lot of modifying and additional parts.

The pipes are hard but run into silicone hoses at the top end

I don't really understand this, can you post a pic of the engine bay so we can see what you mean?

1. Do you have the catalytic converts still installed? There are 2 fitted as standard, this is a pic of them

2. What boost are currently running?

3. What spec are the cams? The right spec cams will give you a little extra mid to top end grunt, the wrong spec cams could lose you power.

Hi thanks for the response I am not sure what the boost is at the moment..I know that both Cats are still in place cos I've just had a new exhaust...will post a picture of the engine bay very shortly...Thanks

First thing to do then is read this -> BPU

Forget about cams and changing the turbos at this stage.

Who is your local Japanese specialist? They obviously don't know what they are talking about when it comes to the Supra and are just trying to flog you parts. Don't be fooled by a 'specialist' telling you to bolt on this and that 'performance' part, it is a lot more involved than that.

Some wise words here from the guys.........de-cat first, get a boost controller, make sure your boost is safe, run her like that, that will keep you happy for another 6 months to a year, then you might be wanting more power.

Remember de-cat is the single biggest power gain, and most cost effective, everything else after that just gets expensive for smaller gains.......until you go single, but then you pay for that....

You already have intercooler hardpipes fitted, the silicon connectors are essential as they give a degree of flex between the engine (which is mounted on dampers and will twist under power) and the intercooler (which is solidly mounted to the chassis).

I would personally get rid of the Blitz induction kit and refit a stock airbox. A pod filter sucks in hot under bonnet air and has a smaller filter surface area. The stock airbox is supplied by 2 cool air feeds from outside of the engine bay and has bigger filter area to protect your engine from wear. You could actually see some gains in power from refitting the stock airbox. As I said above, it's not just about bolting on so called 'performance' parts, recommended by so-called 'specialists' ;)

Cool will look at de cat and boost controller...how will de cat affect an MOT...car is a 1993 J spec...also need to look at turbo oil leak thats why was looking at changing them cos its got to come off...

If you fit 2 decat pipes, to replace the 2 cats, come MOT time you can refit the second cat to get through emissions test. It is a relatively quick and easy job to fit the second cat.

Where is the oil leaking from? A small amount of oil in the IC piping, or from the BOV is normal. If it's gushing out, you're oil level is dropping and you are getting puffs of blue smoke out of the exhaust then that's a different matter.

There is a small amount of oil on the IC pipe's not noticed blue smoke even when booting it hard with my mate following...de cat and new air box sounds like the way to go...

If you're not getting puffs of blue smoke out the back then it sounds fine. One word of caution, removing the cats will reduce back pressure, which can highlight a worn turbo seal. I would try it and see, if after decatting you do get blue smoke out the back then that would indicate a worn oil seal. This is not a big problem just a bit embarrassing

There's some very sound advice there from Nic

As he says, a small amount of oil residue in the IC pipes and from the BOV is quite normal. If you're not getting any blue smoke when under high boost then it's unlikely there's a problem.

Decatting completely transforms the way the car drives, it's a huge bang for buck mod. Just make sure you do the 'other' stuff required (see link) BEFORE fitting the decats.

As for suppliers, there's Nic, Envy, Whiftbitz, Crhis Wilson, etc.... see traders section. They'lll all supply top quality kit, just hunt around for the best price.

Mate we all have a small amount of oil in our IC pipes, trust me Im sure we would all love bone dry pipes, but it just dont happen....

Sounds to me like yours is ok, do you notice it using a lot of oil, do you have to to top it up regular ?

I would be carefull in taking advice from this garage by the sounds of it........

Speak to Chris Wilson on here for the de-cat pipes and whats needed, he's knowledgable..........

As for air box over filter, 6 of one and half a dozen on the other Im afraid on this one. Sure engine bay in take temps can be higher when your sat still, even on a dyno, Im sure a large fan doesnt mimick air through the front, but on the road when your moving Im sure there isnt 'a lot in it'........and you can duct filters, to feed cold air, and box them in. At the end of the day this mod is purely done for cosmetic and nothing else, dont expect it to be a performace mod.......I have a Blitz filter on mine, but then I have all my turbo pipes/induction pipes and IC pipes polished and a black plastic air box wouldnt look as good with my polished pipes, hence it being a cosmetic look......

Thanks Nic will look at that....any recommendations for a supplier?

I'm a trader on the forum (see Import Pimp in traders section). I can supply some of the parts and can recommend others on the forum for some of the other parts, Drop me a pm if you would like details.
