I'd expect the little belt in the motor has snapped, thats what happend to mine.

:yeahthat:

an easy 10 minute job to fix, it was my first ever job on the Supra :) New masts (complete with belt / spline thing) are about £30 from Toyota.

Mine has never worked since I got the car. Are the bits easy to get to Bob??

I was thinking of getting a stubby one, but for £30 a standard one sounds ok. You can hear my motor running but the mast doesn't move.....:(

Yup, I just asked my local Toyota for the mast, they sorted it out and got the part to me in about 2 days time.

I got the stubby one H that I'll fit instead as I hate the whining aerial noise! Mine goes up and down, but doesn't go all the way up so makes that horrid grinding sound for about 30 secs! :(

How much are the stubby ones then!! I don't like fooking around with electrics on the car so I ahve been reluctant to mess with it tbh!!

My ariel is actually snapped so I need to sort it out soon!

Stubbys came to around £35 in total :)

Its the belt that are fecked in yours, mine failed too. Took mine aprt and replaced it, which was err fun. New mast was around £30 iirc.

The whole unit is sitting in my box of bits with a £50 sticker on if anyone wanted it.

Charlie, it's only the mast you need. You unscrew the top of the mast on the exterior of the car, turn the radio on and it will eject all the mast from the car - prepare to catch it. Take the new mast insert into the hole, and turn the radio off.

screw the top back on, and presto it should be fitted.

There is a maintenace diagram somewhere I'll see if I can find it for you

Mike

ps see you tonight ;)

If the plastic spline is broken, you may need to take the aerial apart to get the bits out.

MarkTheBoy has done a cracking fitting guide including electrics H.
I'm crap at linking (amongst other things) so it's the "Stubby Aerial Fitting Guide (kind of)" . Have fun.

Fitting the stubby aerial was probably the easiest job I've every done and I'm a right frikking techn o numpty!

Plus, it does look MUCH better, I'll get some pics up later. Was just a case of removing the rear bumper inner plastic shroud, unbolting the old aerial and 2 wire connectors, popping the new one in with the grommit and wiring it up again with the old wiring connections still intact. :)

Give it a bash Havard and co, you won't be disappointed! ;)
