View Full Version : Cut and paste into "advanced reply"

Because I don't always like to telegraph the fact that I'm posting on a forum while at work, I usually type my replies in another application (usually Outlook, so it looks like I'm typing an e-mail) and then cut and paste into the new post window.

I've noticed that when I do this, it removes all the blank lines between paragraphs, so I then have to go into the post and re-add the lines in before submitting it.

This only happens when using the "advanced reply". "Quck reply" does not suffer from the same issue.

Can anything be done to fix this?

Edit
seems OK here (pasted from Notepad). Maybe an Outlook thing?

Probably your html or plain text setting?

This is a test, no spaces here.
Carriage return

2 spaces above.

1 space and a tab.
(although the forum removes tabs when you post I think).

//edit: From Outlook 2003 SP3, with html on.

So its just me then?

Hmmm. I tried rich test and plain text but it does the same thing.

This is a post using rich text.

There should be four carriage returns between these two lines.

I don't fecking believe it! Its not doing it now!! :(

This is a post using rich text.
There should be one carriage return between these two lines.

Ah - it only does it if there is only one blank line. :)

I've seen similar things between various apps. I have no idea how to fix it though ;)

As long as I know that it ignores the first CR I can always type two.

Or more :)
