terribleturner
Odd question i guess, but my top radiator hose has an adaptor for a water temp sensor, but it seems wedged in. Im now concidering drilling out the.... screwed in bit, and then i can mount my sensor. Sound alright to people??
Tricky-Ricky
Is the adaptor pipe alloy? and has the sensor /adaptor whatever it is broken? if not then a bit of heat first should do it.
terribleturner
Yeah it's alloy, it's just a bung incase you don't use a sensor. Hhhmm, a bit of heat? How hot are we talking?? Can i go buy one of those hand blow tourch things??
Tricky-Ricky
Yes propane blow torch or gas ring, what is the bung? recessed allen or hex head, and is it made of brass?
terribleturner
Allen, and i belive alloy as well. I have tried WD40 and a long arm on the allen key but no good

Tricky-Ricky
Hmm if its also alloy then it might be a problem as its bloody soft! i would soak it overnight in WD and then put it in a vice with some wood packing, heat it up and try with a short length of small dia pipe on the key, but be careful, trouble with alloy to alloy where there is coolant involved, it gets in the threads and oxidises, should have used some PTFE tape on it;)
peter richards
put a bit of pressure on the allen key , and tap the sides with a hammer its just ally corrosion thats holding it in
terribleturner
Can i not just drill the bastard out?? Smaller drill bit then the stoper thing? Last time i tried it i had soaked it in WD for ages and when trying to turn the key it was slightly bending
Tricky-Ricky
Patients grasshopper:) If the key was bending i don't think the plug is alloy, as I'm sure the hex would have striped out, have you got an allen bit and adaptor for you socket set? if so get just the bit and give it a smart tap with a hammer then try the ratchet on it, sometimes frees it off.
