bolarbag
What price am I looking at for machining the head(basically just a port and polish) For installation of Ferrea: Dual Valve Springs Titanium Retainers Valve Guide Set Valve locks Valve Seal Set 1mm oversize valves intake and exhaust 264 HKS Cams 1.2MM Headgasket - gather the block needs skimmed for this? The parts I have just wanna know rough idea of machining cost?
Chris Wilson
About a thousand quid. The seats cut mean a full re shim, and any decent head man will charge 400 plus for a mild port re work. The block won't need skimming if it's not warped, they seal fine on a normal fly cut or ground finish.
bolarbag
Fook:blink: I budgeted around 500quid! Single is expensive! Maybe the Titan Head isnt such an expensive option afterall!
Chris Wilson
Once you get into cutting seats for bigger valves it gets expensive, add in a porting job and the costs soar higher still... A decent 4 cylinder race head job these days is 2K plus.. Do you NEED bigger valves? You certainly do not need, and probably don't want, titanium bits in the valve train, total and utter overkill on a slow revving long stroke engine. My Skyline engine will pull safely over 8500 and it's got no titanium bits. My Toyoat engine in the Zeus pulls 10,500 RPM, and no titanium bits either. Are Ferrea 2 piece valves? If so you definitely do not want them.
bolarbag
These...but you may make me rethink...what do you suggest? I know Orido uses stock head and cams, apparently for response, but thenthey use quite a big a/r on the exhaust side of their turbos? I thought my head would have been more responsive with this setup http://www.mvpmotorsports.com/Templates/frmTemplateP.asp?CatalogID=3881&Zoom=Yes&SubFolderId=559 Crazy sales pitch, but their used widely throughout the industry
