painting spark plug cover - advice

guys,

the guys that have had there spark plug cover, what paint did you use, im concerned that if i use something incorrect the paint may start to crack.

also what did you use to finish/seal it for that gloss/shiny look.

Halfords spray does the trick. Just make sure you sand the cover down, then use a few coats of primer, few coats of paint and a few coats of clear and bobs your uncle.

i asssume that the colour paint is the manufactures colours, ie toyota red.

Yup unless you want to go for a different colour. I think the most common Toyota Red used on the Supras (well mine is anyway) is 3L2. Hope that helps.

al depends what colour you want,i went for a pearl black on mine and its fine

as its in the engine bay wouldn't you want a high temp paint?

Did mine at the weekend, sort of a spur of the moment thing. Gave it a quick scotchbright over then a couple of coats with the Rattle Can

The coil packs dont get all that hot. I painted my old one with the halfords spray and 3 years on its still like new.

I brought a second hand cover that was painted already and I used nitromorse to get the old paint off and that worked well, then as above I used Halfords primer, paint and clear coat, it was easy and came up ok

B and Q sell it and it works a tread, I was worried it would damage plastic but it was fine

I did my cover in Plasticote from Halfords no problems with the heat at all
