View Full Version : mitsubishi 3000gt Vs toyota supra! delimiting methods
Hello All!
I had a mitsubshi 3000 GT VR4 (long name) and there was the usuall delimiting thingy as you generally dont buy a potent sportscar and leave it limited to 180 kmh.
The solution on the mitsu is to either buy a delimiter (some did this)
Or to just simply cut the cable that goes from the speedo to the ecu (no the speedo still works since there is a limiter cable on it :p ).
Problem then was solved since the ecu could not get the information to cut the ignition off att 180kmh.
Since i just recived my supra TT i have looked hard in this forum to find a similar easy route to delimiting but cant find it!
surely the job must be as easy on a supra? the bought delimiter just does away with the signal to the ecu so if one cuts the right cable it must work on the supra 2 right?
help me out here and we all save money

On a UK/Euro spec you can just pull the TRC fuse to take away the 155mph restriction... is yours a JDM model?
yes its straigth from the land of the rising sun :D
get a SLD speed limit defencer. it will come in series of the speed sensor wire. thats all.

How to delimit....
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=110391
As i stated in my post i know how to buy a speed delimiter!
Thats not the question, anyone and all can go buy a speed delimiter me included its easy i agree, the question was
as posted we had a similiar discussion in the 3K forums and
then we concluded that we could just cut the wire and it worked
fine.
SO once again.
Anyone with the technical know how can this be done?
and if so how?

(i know what a SLD is and how to buy it thats not what the post is about).
Auto or manual?
Yes you could potentially do this on a manual, no you couldn't on an auto.
However, you would have to cut it in the right place (just at the ECU would be my advice)
Also you would loose your traction control.
I have an auto.
but then you can actully cut the wire on the JDM cars and
the limiter is gone?
So then there is no need to actually buy a sld for manual cars
(you should if you want the traction control in workingorder).
Then whats the difference between this solution between auto and manual.
and also there seems to be 2 wires for speed into the ecu one in
connection 2 and one in 22 or 23 depending on market what is the purpose of these?:what:
On the auto the traction control system (or part of it somehow) also helps smooth out the gear changes. Removing the traction control fuse makes gear changes much more harsh.
sounds like the autobox then goes into the manual gearchanging
mode?
well back to the limiter!
anyone who has some more info on this?

Wow! Get you!

Shame you didn't read my full guide.
If you did you'd have realised that the ECU doesn't like being told one signal from one wire and a different (e.g. zero if you cut the wire) signal from another location (the ECU in this case). I've tried it.
Silly me, what do I know - I've only got practical experience to go on. :innocent: :taped:
well thank you for the nice answers.
i did read your full guide.
and did indeed notice that the ecu dont like confusing info.
i did Not read that you had tried to cut a cable and found this to be non satisfactorie (but what do i no i can just read).:search:

There is no helping some people....
Good look finding your cheapo way of delimiting a Supra. I'm sure you will suceed where the cumulative hundreds of years of technical expertise have failed, especially with such a great attitude. :D
For the record, if you still want to try cutting the cable that goes to the ECU, which is used by the ECU for (amongst other things!) limiting the car's top speed, it's the pink wire that goes to pin 2. Have fun! :)
you did not help me you just cluttered the thread!
and the nice camradire was started by You.
No no, it's the brown wire, cut all those, and any yellow ones too while you're there.

It takes a special kind of person to wind me up, and you're certainly 'special'.
You asked, how one goes about delimiting a Supra.
As I had previously, and quite recently, gone to the efforts of writing a "How To Delimit" guide - for other people's benefit - I pointed you at it. I did nothing more, nothing less. The guide has helpful info for you to pick up on, but I wasn't patronising and figured you could find that for yourself. (Mistake #1)
You figured you knew better than this, despite obviously knowing precisely jack, and decided to have a pop at me! That's pretty rude, if nothing else. You also reckoned I'd just told you how to buy a delimit chip, which is pretty much the only thing my guide doesn't tell you how to do.
I graced you with the benefit of the doubt, after all you are clearly very special, shurgged it off and pointed out what you'd missed, then even wished you well despite my reservations of your attempts to cut corners which ;
a) show a massive lack of understanding on the subject, ('well it worked on the GT3000') combined with a clear reluctance to take advice that doesn't suit your mission
b) can't be cut you dumbass
...and despite my feelings on the matter and the fact you'd insulted me (well, tried to), I even offered you this advice and your future exploits good will. I wish I hadn't bothered.
You return my second helping of good-willed response with even less regard than the first, which - to be fair - was totally uncalled for.
In summary, you've turned up on the site to try and save yourself ~£100, which can't be saved, and want to take your pikeyness out on those who point this out to you and have tried to help you. You're a c*ck!
Could you just feck off now? Pretty please. :p

:D
Christ it's like a Lethal Weapon film in here!
Patrik, chill out! all posts in this thread were made to help you out.
Say your thanks and go have a wank you grumpy little bugger!

I think you'll find that actually you're the one with the attitude here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=1420576&postcount=7) and again here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=1424019&postcount=13) and even a hint of sarcasm here (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=1424813&postcount=15).
You'll find that this forum has a multitude of technical information and members that know maybe a thing or too as well.
Perhaps it's your writing style or maybe us Brits don't get your crazy humour or something, but take something on board. Wind your neck in. ;)
