View Full Version : Is it fine to drive the car with dead turbos `?
Well atleast until ive found out if they are dead or not.
Cant hear either one of them spool, and nothing from the BOV
But my question this time is if its fine to drive it like this, read something about overfulling and so ?
im no expert but i wouldnt have thought so, unless you drive below 2k rpm i guess....?

Should be fine yes. Especially if you drive it over to me :)
Seriously though, shouldn't be a problem at all. Just take it steady. A customer put several thousand miles on a car with dead turbos and I resurrected it quite straightforwardly.
Depends how they have died. Is it burning or losing oil?
Or is it the actuator system that has had a pipe come off or a boost pipe off?

I killed Turbo number 2 and drove fine but had to stick below 4k rpm or risk detonation. I drove for over a week like this and it didnt cause any damage.
Both turbo's gone is a little different I guess because you have no ummpphh at all. In theory yes you can but I wouldnt if you dont have a number 1, id be wanting to put my foot down too much :D
Very rare to have both turbos gone! I think you may have another problem
No, ive never had much or blue smoke or anything unusal, started the car yesterday for the first time this year and it started instantly even though it was keept off the road for the past 8 months, some white smoke coming when i reved tested the car, but thats just normall since i did it indoors. But i was worried when i did not hear any turbo or bov at all during the reving (tryed to 4k rpm as most)
Will leak test the IC piping tomorrow and check all other vacum hoses that are visible (since i did replace the SMIC with Miami GT and did not test the car after that, it seems correct fitted though)
But ive read that if turbo one is dead then turbo to will not come online ? How can i check if turbo one is dead then ?
