View Full Version : Small Sub's
Does anybody know if there is a SUB which would fit where the rear speakers are?

You can get 8" subs but you could also consider a pair of 6x9's or 7x10's.
My reasoning is that you're not going to massive bass if you want a small sub. You could get the same amount of bass and more clarity out of a pair of high quality 6x9's or 7x10's.
I've got some old JBL GTO 6x9's and I'm going to test them out by mounting them just behind the rear seats. They will take up less room than Subs. Won't shake the car about and will provide good clarity.
Only a thought.... it depends what your after. What is your end goal for you in car audio system?
If you use small sub's you might be able to fit them under the carpet in the boot just behind the rear seats, as some supras's come with a single sub as standard.

Them JBL 6x9s are lovely - should I decide to invest on either of the Soops that I'm going to see at the weekend, I might invest in them.
The kit I've got in my car (not my own install) is fantastic, and it's so solid the sound quality is pretty good.....so I'll want something similar.
You can make me an offer if you like, they are the previous generation 963's? as I'm not really going to have the time to put them in untill after I've got an AMP. At which point I might go and buy the Infinity 7x10's as the rest are infinity. Fussy bugger that I am...
Did Matt not get a pair of 6 x 9's behind the stock rear speaker positions ???
Dean..
I believe you can't really get them behind but you can replace the old cover with the 6x9 cover so it sits over the opening. Its not flush but it still works if you can get in enough dampening material to stop the area vibrating.
That's why I didn't put my 6x9's in 'cause it isn't flush, and, mounting them in a small mdf box will produce better sound, I'll be able to remove them, no damage to the original rear speaker area.
