AdzC
Hi all, After some advice. I was cleaning my car yesterday and have noticed that the bottom of the door has a tiny patch of rust. It really is small (about 1cm in length) but i'm concerned that it will spread in time if not treated. Just after the best way to nip it in the bud if any of you guys have had this problem. The car has genuine OEM skirts and there is a rust stain on the sill part of the skirt where the door joins it when closed.
bolarbag
Yup same here, am replacing my doors with the carbon ones!

Ian W
The joy of bodykits..... Absolutely Chris. Unfortunately this will undoubtedly be caused by your side skirt not fitting properly and rubbing the bottom of the door (i believe Pete has the same problem). As for a solution i'd take it to a body shop and get them to sort it out. I had rust on my sill and a bodyshop took it right back, sorted the rust out and sprayed it as good as new for £70 cash in hand. Unfortunately, it'll not cure the cause of the problem so it'll just happen again OEM sideskirts? It may be OEM but it doesn't mean it's been fitted correctly
Nic
Check that your door/window seal isn't leaking and allowing water to get inside the door ie. behind the door car.

Or it could be this , although i've never known this to happen in a Supra but it depends on who's been tampering with the insides of the door. CJ
What about the usual rust spot of just below the seal on the rear screen? Is that down to the nasty old bodykits too?

Of course not CJ, don't be daft. It's those 19 inch rims that cause that, the road spray pattern you know?

CarlT67
I also have this problem, from the outside the window seal doesn't seem to rub against the window, also when the window has droplets on it and I move the window up and down to clear the seal does touch this either.... Is the outside seal supposed to rub, thus preventing water in.
supRo
Yup, OEM side skirts can catch the bottom of the doors and then start rusting! You can have the doors grinded down and resprayed!

AdzC
Thanks for all the replies. From what I can see the seals are in tact and it would appear to be the sideskirt rubbing albeit ever so slightly. Think i'll take it to a body shop and get it sorted to prevent it spreading further for a while.
