View Full Version : IE7 "optimised for Yahoo!"
A while ago I posted up that I wanted to upgrade to IE7 but I couldn't because my Windows Genuine Advantage thingy wasn't working anymore.
If you go to Yahoo.co.uk and look in the bottom left there is a link to "get IE7 now". This takes you to a download page where you can apparently get IE7 with a load of Yahoo! add-on bollocks, but seemingly without having to get it from the Microsoft site.
I'm at work so I can't try it at the moment. Has anyone got IE7 this way?

You might as well light a bonfire and stick the pc in it than add any yahoo bollocks to a PC. Its crap, it really is!
Well, as far as I can see the only changes are:
2 home pages: Yahoo! & Yahoo! News
Yahoo! Search as your default
Yahoo! Toolbar
Nothing too sinister there, hopefully. I would like IE7 but I was just wondering whether I would fall foul of the dreaded WGA at some point during the install.
Yahoo! Toolbar. Enough said. Try it at your own pearl!
Can i ask, why you want IE7?
Get firefox if you cannot get IE 7 without addons.
I have Firefox already. The main reason I want IE7 is because it has a feature that magnifies web pages, which is useful for me because I run my PC through a plasma screen 12 feet away. That's fine when what I'm looking at is nice and big, but when some doughnut web developer with his nose 2" away from a 20" monitor uses 2pt greay text on a white background it can get a bit hard on the eyes ;)
I've been told you can get a plugin for FF that does pretty much the same thing, so maybe I'll try that out first.
So why all the anti-Yahoo toolbar hate? I've avoided installing it in the past, but only because I don't need it for anything. What does it actually do?
Its a bit of a sytem hog, buggy and contains spyware. Has been like it for years.
Do the FF add on, or im sure that same add on exists via 3rd party for IE6 :)
