GeordieSteve
As I've got more chance of finding rocking horse poop than getting a getrag I've been looking into a R154 5 speed conversion, even just for the time being until I manage to lay my hands on a getrag conversion. What's the pro's and con's of this conversion? Am I right in thinking I'll just lose some top end with this box as apposed to the 6 speed and does anyone know what kind of power this box will take? Cheers Steve:p
RobSheffield
IIRC Steve it wont take much
mikeyb10supra
it will take more that the w85 box but as Rob said not much more 4-500 will be pushing it, the getrag box or a borg warner setup is going to be your best bet to be honest
GeordieSteve
Looks like it's back to the old drawing board. Can't see my autobox lasting long

garethr
Bear in mind that you will have difficulty finding a JZ R154 (Soarer, Supra JZA70, Chaser), so you'll need a JZ bellhousing.

GeordieSteve
I've just read 600+rwhp on Supraforums. Looking at things I'd still need a stand alone ECU for this

GeordieSteve
Cheers bud. It seems a good idea in my head but every keeps talking about max power figures but no one seems to know for sure
Jezz
apparently holds -700 bhp. Na! I've seen these pop at 400bhp. Its torque that kills them. I had one guy go through 2 in 3 weeks last year, and he was only 420 ish.

I know the Aussies like to use them behind Aussie/Yank V8s.
