Mums gone to Iceland (right got that joke over, so no one else can use it)

Have been to Iceland for a long weekend. And it was the nuts. Would recommend it :) But you need lots of money, its very expensive out there. I did £300 in food and drink over 3 days! £4.50 for a pint of local beer, and I thought London was expensive!

Whilst we were there, apart from lots of drinking, eating, and general sight seeing (ooooh look at that building) we went to the Blue Lagoon, a natural Spa. Where the water is around 40 degrees C and high in sulpher/silica content or something like that. Was very relaxing.
We also went whale watching, although only managed to spot a few dolphins. And get drenched when the weather turned a little rough.

We stayed in Reykjavik, it was cool. Night life didnt start until around 11pm! All the women were tall, blonde and good looking, and very friendly too :D
Car modding over there seems to be 'how much can you make your Suzuki Vitara look like a monster truck'! It was crazy, every other car was a 4x4 jacked up and on massive squidgy tyres. There were some crazy number plates too, I saw 'ZOMBIE' 'HOTROD' 'PWRTOY' 'PEN1S' 'I I' shame you cant get ones like that over here! I didnt see any MKiV Supes, only a black Mkiii.

All in all pretty good :) Photos to follow later on.

I went to Iceland last June for 10 days and it was just brilliant. The scenery is stunning and there's stacks of stuff to be getting on with, but, as with everything else in Iceland, activites are very expensive. To save your pennies stay at the youth hostel, it worked out really cheap, something like £15 a night if I remember correctly.
It's true about the huge off roaders, they are brilliant. The roads out in the sticks are a bit nuts too, dead exciting though. I'd love to go back some time, hire a car and explore some more.

Excellent Place!
Went there a few years ago, Blue Lagoon facilities were a couple of Portacabins, a wild place 40C in the water -6C past your ears.

Half a dozen water tanks on a hill above Reykjavik with a resaurant built on top of them, a great place for sun rise/up/set cos it takes soooooo loooong.

Certainly take your own booze and hook up with the locals. They get pissed up on homebrew before going out on the town.

As for the glaciers and all the dramatic scenery, excellent!

lol sounds like the Blue Lagoon must be doing better now, as its like a mini Centre Parcs!!!

Never saw the water tanks thing? we stayed mostly around the bottom end of Reykjavic where most the bars were :D

Cant really miss a place this size. Didn't know they had drained a tank for a museum though.

Apparently the tanks were there for ages before some bright spark joined them together with walls between them and a revolving restaurant on top. It was not part of the original design spec!

There was a fountain in the middle that sent a single jet up in the air every 10 mins as I remember.
