Big read ahead ....

I finished my single turbo conversion about 3months ago, apart from a clutch and mapping. Michel lane posted up a clutch for sale about a month ago, i bought it off him and when he pm'd me he also said he could get it mapped for me, and pop the clutch in for a cheap price. So i went for it and the car got picked up, and taken up to storm performance.
They did a few checks on it when it got there and it turned out that my headgasket was on its way out, 100psi on cylinder 5. Think this is due to it overheating due to a fcuked thermostat. They took the head off the engine and there was a nasty burnt oil smell, seems like its had cheapo oil in at one point, it had blocked oilways and left nasty gunk all over the place. So the engine came out to be completely cleaned out.
Seeing as the engine was being taken out and stripped, ive got for a few extra things done, and its kind of escalated from there.
Heres the spec of what it will be when completed... (what i can remember anyway)

Engine+Head
Rebored Engine,
Forged Pistons and Rods,
Arp head studs,
Hks 264 Cams.

Turbo + Fueling
Was a Phr Stage 2+ GT67 Turbo
Now a SPSSGT850W,
Hks 50mm Wastegate with Screamer Pipe,
Phr 3" Down and Midpipe,
Xs Exhaust,
Hks Fuel Rail,
720cc Squirters,
Aeromotive Fpr,
-10An Fuel lines,
Twin Pumps in Tank.

Electronics
Aem Ecu
Hks Dli
Aem Wideband
Apexi Avcr

Clutch
Bronze Paddle Clutch and RPS Pressure Plate

Cooling
Greddy 3Row Front Mount,
Koyo Aluminium Radiator,
Mocal Oil Cooler,
Power Steering Cooler.

Braking
Uk Calipers (obviously)
Dba Gold Drilled and Grooved Disks.

Its also getting
Brand new oil pump,
Brand new big end bearings
Lightened Drive Pulleys,
Engine stripped + competely cleaned,
New valve stem seals,
New big end bearings,
New rings,
New headgasket,
Hid's installed,
All cooler pipes powder coated,
Throttle body and inlet manifold polished,
Car re-undersealed,
Engine block painted,
Engine bay cleaned up and wishbones etc repainted(undersealed)
Car mot'd.
And some spanking new 18's :D

Im sure theres more but i cant remember any at the moment,
it should be finished in the next 2weeks (i wish), and will be getting mapped by Dan on the 8th of june.
Cant wait to get it back :D
Michel lane is sending me some pics today so i'll post them up when they arrive.
Heres 2pics of it before it left, this is with the phr stage one on...

Any idea's on the Horsepower? closest will win a prize (dont know what yet :))

489 rwhp @ 1.3 bar :)

Why 1.3bar go for 1.5bar map, that way you can run 1.3 all day and 1.5 for a whole can of whoop ass :eyebrows:

Dont know what made me think 2weeks  The pistons will only be here by then i imagine.
Them injectors are 850cc apparenty Michel, well, thats what the fella i bought them off told me they were  But, if, as you say, they are 720cc's, thats still fine, i'll probably use less fuel too ;)

Prize.. Erm.. a new set of plugs for someone mabye, ive not decided :)

Im not too sure what it'll be mapped to be honest, 1.3 is around about what i think he'll map it to, two boost settings would be good thought like you say :D

All sounds good mate, I think 519rwhp.

I don't mean to be rude but is that engine bay shot before it was stripped and cleaned as it looks rather 'off colour'!d

Mine had that same horrible burnt oil smell wwhen I took my cylinder head off. Did the head appear to have a varnish coating to it aswell?

Think theres a few supra's now that have had similar problems, goes to show what sh*te oil can do to the engine! i always used decent stuff, but obviously the last owner didnt care too much what he chucked in it!!

You too mate :D Hope we get supplied with a few brews whilst we watch our cars getting thrashed on the rollers ;)
Cant wait to get it back.

Am going up there on saturday so i'll get a few pics taken.
The engine bay has now been repainted, the cam covers, throttle body and the intake go off to the polishers this week. My fuel system goes in saturday, and my turbo should be here for friday :D The rest of the parts arrive next week.

a sound performance sp850...blah blah turbo is going on, basically a t67 :) Same as the one kopite was selling i think.
erm.. yeah it should have i suppose, as the turbo has been at the garage a few weeks, but the turbo was bought as an after thought, by me, and then taken down to them, i was told it was a 3", so didnt think to check, so i guess the garage didnt think to check either. Just one of them things...

Shame really.. its a nice looking bit of kit :(

Seems like its coming together now, it was meant to be completed and mapped by today but we've hit more delays so i dont really know when it'll be done, or mapped now :conf:
soon i hope.

The turbo is just tarnished martin, this is what happens to polished surfaces after several months . The turbo is in very good condition , it has an anti surge housing on it aswell . Iam sorry for the delays, the next tune will be soon. The turbo will be polished when you collect the car, i can assure you of this. The delays have been issues of which iam not very satisfied with, but iam trying to resolve them ASAP for you. please be patient for the next several days while i resolve them. You wont be disappointed with the end result.

Very nearly there Marty!

I like the oil filter relocation, thats so much easier to get to.

PITA about the delays, but trust me a few days (or even weeks) is nothing if you want the job done properly. As soon as you get in the thing they'll all be forgotten :D

How come there's no wrap on anything? Also, is that an XS manifold? It looks rather different to mine

Nearly there, the wait will be worth it :)

Yes there was no wrapping on the pic's , one of the reasons why i did not want to let it go.

Why are so many people using the XS Manifold? :search:

Why not? It's cheap and it works fine

how reliable is it though? IMO if you skimp on modding a car like this you need your head checking!

ahhh it's cheap so it's no good eh? All tubular manifolds can/will crack. A manifold swap if you have problems isn't a big job. It's working fine here :D

In my opinion and experience yes if it's cheap it's no good :) if yours is working fine im glad, keep me updated I'd be interested to know how long it lasts.

Guess im just getting a little impatient as its been away so long :D
Its not an xs power manifold no, its an obx one, pretty similar though.
Like this... obx manifold (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-Turbo-Manifold-Header-Toyota-Supra-93-98-2JZGTE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ007QQitemZ170120113672QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) but mine isnt clocked.
IMO there isnt anything wrong with the xs power/ebay manifolds, especially the new ones with the bracing on.

I like the look of the OBX clocked manifolds - 321SS too. :) Arguably a better material choice than HKS!

I know mate, i wasnt expecting it to take so long to be honest, it was originally meant to be the 8th but we've had a few delays etc. it'll be fine, i'll be there for the meet :D

Good good.

It's going to be a long weekend for you when you pick her up again! The drive back down from way up North, then some unnecessary petrol useage all day Saturday :eyebrows:. And, I'm not the only one putting in serious miles to get there!

Well martins car was all sorted on the day , it ran very impressive figures, ill let him tell you all. I must say i have never seen a persons face filled with "oh shit what have i done, it may be to fast for me " look :d..... The combination of parts and setup which i have been applying on the cars that we get in have been perfect i believe for the type of "stock" setup with power. The car drives like stock , apart from the clutch giving you an extra inch to your calve muscles. Both cars are perfect for town driving and motorway madness . They are running on low boost for the time so they can get used to the power , then a month later i will be turning the boost so some extra bhp if they feel they need it. Just so everyone thinks why low boost ?? why not give it everything . Jumping from 280-350bhp to 570hp / 470rwhp is why.. you need to get use to the cars first and learn to drive it before giving more boost.

I hope martin can upload the graphs ..

It was best when he came back after the 1st test drive (Dan driving, Mart passenger), he got out and in all seriousness said "Why anyone would want anything more than that is beyond me" :D :D :D, I was creased up, that's @ 1.1 bar too!!!! I drove it from my house to Michels & it really is a lovely drive, it starts on the 1st crank, idles smoothly @ 800 rpm as well as being an animal on WOT.

I am soooooo pleased for Martin, his face when driving it says everything.

Michel is spot on witht he 'learning to drive' , the power is amazing, its not something you can just jump into from 300bhp and drive around on full throttle.

I did say that :D and i meant it, i cant understand why anyone would need anymore power than that, as it is now its perfect :D
Obviously i will get it mapped up to higher boost, but i can see myself sticking to 1.1bar for normal everyday driving.

Im gutted about your car Jay :( i was expecting to see near 700bhp, and it was well on course for it, luckily its nothing too serious, you'll be back in the monster in a few weeks :)
