mr lover Posted April 26, 2007 Author Share Posted April 26, 2007 right, i was fitting it between rain storms and rushed it a bit but it was not just unpack and fit a bit of tweeking was required, now that is assuming i did it correctly i will do a quick right up in a bit with some pics of the parts. mr lover Posted April 26, 2007 Author Share Posted April 26, 2007 First remove plastic cover in the boot to right hand side to expose aerial motor, there is a single 10mm bolt at the bottom remove it and unplug electrical connector, then you need to remove the chrome nut on the outside holding the aerial from the top, arrowed in pic http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/687/existingro9.jpg the old aerial will now just come out and you are left with a hole in the rear quarter Next you need to fit cover/holder in rear quarter, the pic shows where i cut it back too, I needed to do this to get the stubby up far enough for it to seal. http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/9825/insertea9.jpg i then fitted the bracket from burna to the holder http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/7047/bracketfixzh7.jpg then the stubby screwed in the top of holder http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/9774/bracketscrewfe6.jpg with all these bits fitted together i pushed the aerial up from inside up through the cover fitted in rear quarter, this had to be pushed up hard to get a nice tight fit then the cover in the pic is slipped over the stubby and clips to cover in the rear quarter to finish it neatly http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/2145/coverhx6.jpg the bracket that burna supplied is then fixed to the same fixing to the car body where the original aerial was secured, point to note i had to extend my bracket as it did not reach which makes me wonder if I did it right but everything else seemed ok any question please ask Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The aerial unit looks the same, brackets etc. I definately didn't cut anything though.. I errr, what did I do.. hmmm. I pushed the inside-grommet bit (the sleeve bit) up from inside the wing, 'cause I couldn't push it in from the top as it was too tight. I heated it up in some almost-too-hot water and pushed it up from the inside. Don't know if that's going to make any difference to the outcome though. SBDJ Posted April 30, 2007 Share Posted April 30, 2007 Gary is right; the ariel part will never push up through the grommet to seal - at the point where the screw base of the ariel is at the bottom of the grommet there is a fairly sizeable gap at the top still. Instead of cutting my grommet off, I filled the gap on mine with black silicone sealant. Didn't think to trim the grommet Even so though, I know I've got a good waterproof seal using the sealant... Might take it back off and trim the grommet tho... Locustom don't sell the S2000 kit any more; I believe what was ordered for the group buys were the Shark Attack II ariels? Am I right in thinking that this aerial won't need any power to it like the powere aerial. I mean the feed from the head unit specifically. As I think this is causing my amp to pop fuses.
