The standard engine mounts consist of four holes roughly half way along the length of the block. I am installing the engine in a Triumph Spitfire and these are too far towards the gearbox. I would like to use the mounting points towards the front of the engine, which I believe are normally used for the steering pump and aircon, etc.

Does anyone know if this has been done before and if the engine internals are strong enough in this area. All informed advice most appreciated.

Cheers

You have the wrong forum mate, most on here won't know what a 7M-GE is let alone what car it came from :D try www.mkiiisupra.net/bbs

You are better off moving the engine mounts to mate up with the engine..

Not looked at a spitfire bay, but on things like the morris the engine mounts are just bolted to the chassis leg. Had to move them about 6cm's for a conversion for a different engine.
