JamesC
Finally got my boost guage plumbed in properly and when the car is boosting fully its only showing 0.6 bar on the boost guage, isn't it supposed to be closer to 0.8 bar? How can i tell if my guage is showing the correct figure or if the car is running lower boost? Cheers, James.
wkdtime
Hello mate, your right you should be boosting to 0.8 Bar at 4k RPM, 3 reasons that i can think of to why your underboosting;, 1. intercooler past it plus the hot temps. 2. boost leaks/split pipes. 3. Iacv problem thus turbo 2 not comming online. The first two options can take a while to check properly. option 3 which i think it may be can be checked quite easily by carrying out the TTC mod 'pipe method' which should take no more than 5 mins, it basically by passes the IACV's and the tubbies run in parallel. run a search for 'TTC hose method' Try that:)
JamesC
Cheers mate, do you definately think it will be running low boost then and not just a 'dodgy' guage? It was running 0.6 bar on the first turbo too, is that correct? The intercooler looks ok and Gaz from Evny said it looks in fairly good condition. The TTC mod looks fairly simple but at the same time very complex for a engine noob like myself!
Tom
0.7 1st turbo, 0.8 2nd, 3rd/4th gear pulls that would be.
Tom
TTC is VERY easy to do, see link; http://mkiv.supras.org.nz/articles/andy.htm
JamesC
Thanks tom, much easier to see on that link than the mkiv.com site.
