R Black
I've tried searching, but not totally got my head around offsets yet, so if anyone knows the answer to my query please feel free to enlighten me. The query is are wheels of these sizes an appropriate fit 4 a standard ride height TT? Size : 18 x 8.5(front) & 18 x 9.5(rear) Offset : 35mm Lip size : 2.5" (front) & 3" (rear)
Homer
The wheel sizes are good (though the front it 0.5 inch wider), but the offsets are not. It will mean the wheel is spaced 18mm closer the arch on the front and 15mm on the rear. I think the rear will be okay, but the front might get some rubbing on full lock. I have a set of 9x18 fronts with 48 offset and they only show signs of rubbing on the inside. Hopefully someone with those size wheels will be along shortly
R Black
Cheers for that anyway homer, i got the measurements mixed up, ive edited with correct figures. They will need to clear UK's too.
Homer
I still think you should be okay provided you don't go crazy on the tyre widths The only real way to check if they clear UK brakes is to test fit them. There is no way to check that from the wheel stats.
R Black
Well as for rubber i was thinking of 245 40 18 Front 275 40 18 Rear
RedM
It will mean the wheel is spaced 18mm closer the arch on the front and 15mm on the rear. What info in the main post allows you to work that bit out? I don't understand offsets either.
Bob
Here you go: http://www.miata.net/garage/offset.htm I've got 18x8.5 ET35 front and rear (former owner was a bit of a scrotum), with 235/40 tyres on the front and 265/35 on the rear. No problems at all (lowered on Eibach springs), but will be upgrading as soon as I can afford new wheels!
