Fuel cut changing

Not having added a FCD yet, I have all winter (since I got my MKIV) hit fuel cut at 1.1 bar. Now it seems that once in a while it goes to 1.2 before cutting off.

I know that higher temperatures will make it harder to generate the same boost which is why I will be able to run higher revs in hotter weather before hitting fuel cut. BUT my boost meter is saying around 1.2 bar when the car cuts. How come?

Am I missing some physics here? Has my fuel cut gone soft? (would be nice if it could be convinced going even softer...)
