Supra POD - Launch Control

Hey All,

Were any of the Supras at POD on Sat using any form of launch control.

The red MR2 deff was.

EDIT: aimed at single motors, not stock twins.

It didn't look like Leon Green was!!

I think leon was using nitrous to spin the turbo up, he really suffered with grip issues.

Maybe much longer burnouts would have helped but when it got traction about half way down the track it still managed a speed of over 138mph, which is mad from half way down

I was using the 2-step limiter in the AEM, switched it on after a couple of runs, tried some different settings. Problem I had was traction...period. If I set the limiter over 2800, I got nothing but wheelspin, at 2800 it was launching better but hadn't built enough boost and was bogging a bit.

Were you using anything ? Dan (private pile) was using the AEM 2-step too.

I was not running sadly, really gutted.

Thought grip was the main issue of the day which is suprising as POD is a dedicated track for this sort of thing. Was there more or less grip than normal roads?

Well I wasn't the only one that felt that the launch grip was poor, after that it was fine. Can't remember who I was chatting with about it, Robbie ? Can't remember.

I was only on 1.2bar, but was getting 120-122mph terminals all day long, yet 60fts were 2.5secs at best. To be fair, I have Conti Sport Contact 2s on the car, and the compound is simply too hard for launching the car. In fact the 2-step didn't particularly help either.

My 2step gives me just a bit over a bar to launch, guessing that would have been pretty useless then.

Yeah that's what I was finding. Saw one or two autos that were obviously holding on the brake, and the rear wheels were starting to spin on the line.

We did a standing start on a smooth pice of back road on the way home it had better grip the the drag start area. Set up the AEM two step on Sunday we will give that a try next time.

I think with our car second gear may be a better idea.

Will look forward to it, yours will be a benchmark of how mine will be setup all being well so dig out an 11-12 second quarter for me

Did look at MT ET Street but not available in 18s and I only have 18' wheels. Went for Toyo R888s much better than my usual road tyres but not as good as drag radias.

Were they sweeping the track after each run at Santa Pod?
