View Full Version : Motorway Hotels in Germany etc
Are there any chains of hotels similar to our Travelodge etc in Germany, Austria, Serbia?
Going touring Col?
If so, do the B&B's or smaller hotels instead. There's plenty around and much better.
Thinking of driving to Greece old chap. ;)
you can usually find an Ibis not far from an exit in the major towns.

Eeek, I remember staying an the Ibis in Birmingham, and not the nice one, it was on the outskirts of town. Complete with barbwire perimeter fence, tooks us 30 mins to get in with all the security, once in reminded me a juvenile facility... The crap (and I do mean SHIT) on the walls in the one room was too much for one bloke in our group and he had to get a new room. The in-hotel entertainment shall we say was of the £150/night style...
Only stayed the one night before changing hotels... Avoid that one :p

In that case I'd definitely say small hotels then. Make the journey part of the whole adventure. :)
When we toured in '05 we never booked a single place. Just looked for accomodation in whichever town we were in at around 5pm.
The ones ive stayed at in northern europe have been spotlessly clean and resonably priced.
Formule 1, cheap and cheerful.

Cheap. Having used one, I might dispute cheerful. But it depends a bit what you'll be happy with, and how important cheap is to you. These days, I kind of like rooms where I don't have to walk down the hall to reach the public toilet - and public shower.

Mmm...I like cheap too. But cheap would also have to include an en-suite.
