Guys, Im sure I asked this before but well, due to the week cant remember shit or what was said lol......

Anyway, I have an endolwment that will mature in Jan next year, not as much as my parents were hoping to pay out but 7/8k should be about the amount.

Now I have been thinking what to do with this money and would like to try and do a seasons racing somewhere. Thing is I have absolutely no idea where I can race or at what level, where to find this info out or anyone to speak to that could advise.......

I will be completing my racing licence this year ready for it.......

But what I want to know is:

1) Could I race for a season on a budget of 7/8 - 10k ?

2) What racing could I do ?

3) Is there anyone I could talk to/organisation ?

Any help anyone could give on this would make someones dream a reality.......... :eyebrows:

What kind of car do you want to race Ash?
There's several racing seasons available for all types of car and I'm sure your budget would allow purchase and running of something like my Tiger.

They do a racing series - Details here http://www.tigerracing.com/racing/racing.php

The most fun series seem to be the ones with the lowest budgets, so something like the BARC South East Sports & Saloons championship (Local to South East) would be ideal http://www.barc.net/regional_centres/south_east/documents/Sports_and_Saloons_Regs_2007.pdf

Most cars are catered for, so pick what you like ;)

Or have a look at the 750 Motor Club's series. http://www.750mc.co.uk/ They're very competitive but low cost, especially stock hatch where modifications are very few. I had a look into doing this... can't remember which car I would have gone for though. May have been a Suzuki Swift GTI 1300 as this has a good power to to weight ratio.

Thats the thing Pete, I dont even know what class of car is best to start off im, Im presuming using standard production cars are cheapest due to scraps and bumps its just panels to be replaced, certainly not looking for anything single seater if thats what you mean ;)

Exactly why 750MC stock hatch is cheap & fun. Get a 1.4 16v or 1.6 8V car. Strip it. Bolt in a seat & cage, then race. If you break it then throw it away & get another :D

Well, its almost that simple :sly:

Budget £2.3 to £3K for building the car or buying one ready built, £200 for joining fees, £200 fees per race, drive the car there so £100 fuel per race, insurance & extras (race suit & helmet etc) £1K. At 10 races a year that's a £3K bill for the season. Total £7200.

I like the look of the BARC series. Any idea of anyone I could talk to about this, as I say I really am a complete amature at racing and need to do a lot of ground work first.

Any ideas of websites/magazines that sells these type of cars setup ready ?

Some good stuff comes up on here - http://www.racecar.com/ in the forums.
Chris Wilson has a stack of related sites, I can't remember them at the moment.

That one would definitely be my choice - very cheap to get into, fairly regulated mods wise (helps to keep the cost down) and certainly looks like a good, fun season :)

One of the little hot hatch series would be a cheap entry point, the fiesta cup etc.

what about rallying??

technically no other cars to worry about, so its only you crashing that you have to worry about.

this is what I want to do!
