View Full Version : Inverness/Highland meet?
Hello guys.
Is there any meet ups in Inverness, i would like to go to one.
I have seen at least 10 Supra's in Inverness and in the neighbourhood.
Regards
Tomasz
Theres one in Aberdeen 16 June if you can't make it and there is none happening up there why not start a thread and arrange one yourself? I would drive up if you do sort something out.
I had the same problem around here and now have 17 cars coming in june and can't wait to meet a few like minded people.

Yes, but i can't find any attraction in Inverness :(
What do you think about:
1. Two-day-long trip to the North/West Scotland. Inverness->Wick->Thurso->Tongue (overnight at B&B + night out)->Ullapool->Garloch->Inverness
or
2. Short trip/convoy to Glen Affric (for example) and barbecue in the fresh air.

People have been saying that for years...lol:p
I am up for either option but will all depend on the dates. If its August I can do either option however in July It would have to be a weekend day event as I am so busy with holiday season etc. But all sounds good.
The sooner you get some firm dates or plans the sooner people can start getting names down!
Tartan Heart Festival would be a good weekend event up that way! Thats in august but would have to be quick to organize tickets etc.
Just an Idea:search:

I going to Poland in September (for a three weeks) and i will do my N/A-T conversion in the same time so i haven't too much spare cash. :( Best date for me is the first half of October. I know that it is too late...

The 4th August? (Saturday)
i think the 4th is when we are planning the Ayr meet for then Crail on the 5th

So maybe 11th August is a good date?
Why not make it in October ? Thomasz.
With summer almost upon us, and other events being organised, it would give us all something to look forward too at the back of the year.
Might manage to get a better turnout then as well
Cheers

If it was after the 15th I would make it. I have an exam to revise for before then. :(

Soundslike this could be realy good fun will have to see what im doing in OCT will get back as soon as i can
A night out in Tongue? In October? Have a rethink guys, probably better going up the west coast and ending up in Thurso or Wick for the night out. At least they both have a lot of pubs and a nightclub in each. Tongue there is a pub, thats it. Depends what you want yourselves

Good point; a night out anywhere in Scotland in October can be risky!
Hay a Pub is all you need :)
Hay a Pub is all you need :)
Well said that man, If it's somewhere you can go clubbing it's probably somewhere I wont be happy parking. Can go clubbing in Aberdeen any night.:p
We need a nice cosy pub with a big fire and preferably a quaint b&b above it!
How romantic!
Don't think clubbing would really be our scene!
Hummm...here's a point. What if it snows??
What if it snows??
Now that would make it fun :)

Put the heater on! I will show you where the switch is if ur stuck!
lol:p
Was thinking more along the lines of...'I can't drive in the wet, let alone snow!'

Ah come on that must have at least got a chuckle!!! lol
How romantic!
Something we shud know about?:P
"Must Try Much Harder" :D :p
Looking at the map that is over 300 miles which isn't a problem but just thinking that is a lot of driving on day 1 for those coming from strathclyde area. Just a thought.
Had a look at auto route that would be 320 miles on day 1 for those coming from strathclyde area. Could maybe look at meeting in Inverness the night before or shortening the route a little I don't mind whatever works for everyone else I was just thinking for maximum attendance it could be a bit much, or maybe I am just a light weight!!!lol
That does sound like a lot of miles and the chances are the weather will be rubbish; it would be an ok distance if the sun was shining and we stopped lots to admire the scene!
Maybe a shorter route would be south of Inverness down to Loch Ness and Fort William (don't laugh if my geography of Scotland is rubbish and this is actually further!)
Don't know what it would be like for hotels/pubs etc there...
Was thinking more along the lines of...'I can't drive in the wet, let alone snow!'
Not to clever in the dry weather either !!!! from all accounts.
Just joking Eve
Cheers
Ian
So true; Keith was a brave man getting in that car with me. Especially post op!
na on the roads ur fine :P
i was urging u to go faster on the back roads hehe :d
When it's dry I have much more confidence. Next time everyone wants to visit Aberdeen we could do a Deeside run cos then i'll be on home turf! I desparately wanted to push it with yuo behind me but then I had Keith saying 'the turning is just up here on the right...humm...on a bit maybe..sure it was here somewhere...'
hehe i loved those roads nice and twisty :)
Worst part is the back roads like that down here are all full of holes and broken so its hard to push it but the roads upthere are good for it:P

Surely that would be better wet!!!!LOL;)
*makes shocked & stunned noises*:innocent:
Keith that is some blantant twisting of words Mr!
:spank:
Bad boy!
There was no twisting just deleting a few, LOL.....
i read this last night didnt wanna post till i saw Eve's reaction lol :P
Anyway 100 points for effort :P
Haha! Sounds like I really missed out not getting to the Aberdeen meet. Sure your drivin couldn't have been that bad was it Eve? I'll be checkin out the You tube vid next.
Sounds like a good trip which ever choice folk decide on. I've been planning heading up that way anyways as my Grandparents are up in Caithness. It would be a great way to make the trip more interesting.
The Hotel up in Tongue is ok, Its got a public bar and then I think the fireside one actually in the hotel. I wouldn't recommend goin up that way anytime after September if we want a dry road. Last time I was up there in late August it was beautiful. Only thing to watch out for is the sheep loose on the road.... Sure one of our Aberdeen members could bring along a converted road angel set up to detect sheep ;):)
I'll stick my name down and hopefully get on this one!
The driving was 'that' bad but ya gotta learn somewhere!
I just saw the vid Eve, to be honest it really didn't look that bad, I was expecting a lot worse!
Seems like it was quite a late drift out of that corner, I guess it was just cause of the surface bein weet.
My first drift was way more embaressing. I came out of a junction after waiting at the lights and over cooked the rev's as I went round the bend. Managed a fairly nice drift but was super embaressed when I saw the cops in the rear view. They pulled me over and asked why I was driving so wrecklessly, for a change they weren't complete wankers and accepted that I had only had the car a couple weeks and let me off. I had the redest face you've ever seen though.
We're all learning, just a shame you damaged the car in the process.
Wheres the vid?????? Please I need to see this again i need cheering up!
think he means the vid of me sliding :P
I think the link was on page twenty of the aberdeen thread!
I'm sure it must have been pretty funny to watch, but I'll give Eve credit she's pushed the car further than I reckon I would have, especially on that wee a circuit in the wet.
I've not seen that one Franko? link?
mate thats me :P
hehe still waiting for Neils master piece where we will see her moment of glory :)
Yea Franko that was a bit tame compared to Eve although Eve is happy to take the credit for pushing the car!!
Haha oops, well fair play to ya then Franko, here's me givin Eve all the credit and it was your [-]f*** up[/-] mistake... I mean driving skills. :)
Need to see this other vid now then too!
Has anyone had any further ideas about this next meet?
I think Neil is cutting together a Spielberg rival! It will be a laugh when it comes online! :search:
Think the thread has gone a little 'off topic'. Long time away so i don't think any further plans have been made as yet.
ye sorry i talk too much :p
Did u enjoy fast and furious :p lol :d
Didn't even get round to turning it on because this place is so addictive.
I need a few days off just to make sure I can survive with an (almost) hourly dose of chat about Supras!
ah well unlucky u :p
Im off to bed gonna get an early night for a change :P
have fun peeps

Just the one!
Apologies Keith,
I came on the other night with great intentions and some advice about the Inverness/Highland meet and it seems I've inadvertantly diverted folks attention.
Really looking forward to the meet though after missin the Aberdeen one. Nice to put faces to names.
Dave.
