Just had my neighbour complain that my cat has been sharping his claws on the roof of her KA convertable. I didn't know whether to tell him off or give him a treat ;)
on a serious note how can i stop him doing it ?
he has a scratching post already, which he uses and i gave the lady a water pistol to squart him with but what else can i do?
i think there is a spray available, that only cats can smell, they don't like it

i thought there must be, I take it the vets sell it ?
no idea, i'd give the pet shop a try first
Vitax "Stay off" and "Scent off" products are available from most DIY stores and garden centres:

Oh and prepare yourself for an influx of knob heads suggesting things like shotguns and bear traps *rolls pies*

I think you should use a shotgun or maybe set a bear trap :)

Somehow I don't think Steve wants to kill his own cat :d
I take it you don't like cats Danny?

i think he was just humouring Michael's earlier post :d
If thats your cat in your av then I think she should be proud that a talented dancing cat wants to shred his claws on it.
Seriously though, I've tried the spray stuff and it definately works kept mine from ripping the hell out of the living room rug. I think I got it from 'Pets at Home' but don't quote me on that.
Haha would a shot gun using rock salt instead of pellets kill or simply strongly detter??
just watch your neighbour doesn't read what I just wrote....Ooops!

aaah yes I see now. Sorry Danny :d

I love cats, but couldn't eat a whole one.
Orange peel. Cats hate it.
Or toothpaste, but smearing that on the Ka would look stupid.
Toothpaste it is then!! ;)
Glue a big dog to the car roof.

What!! A picture of? or a real dog? :innocent:

Of course a real one, cats are not daft:)

How about keeping the roof down and leaving a real dog in the car at all times??

You need one of these installed.

All of these suggestions are lovely, but lets get down to the nitty gritty
Pics of Ka owner (unless she looks like a moose ;))

Air pistol/rifle and Blu Tac, this way is doesn't pierce the skin, also good for shooting school kids so I'm told :innocent:
Unusually, I have my sensible head on today and was wondering if this thread would have received the same type of posts had the neighbours cat been using the Supra roof as a claw sharpening utility.
Somehow, I think not eh? :)

If a cat had big enough claws to get though the metal roof of my Supra I'd let it do whatever the hell it liked!
Normal cats seek fabric / wood etc to stick their claws into, they just like to sit on cars rather than attack them (the stones in their pads scratch though, mine has a few marks but it's only a car)

One of my cats sleeps on the roof of my Supe and leaves little sratches on it when he jumps off its annoying but i love the cat more than the car

I wonder if you be quite so pragmatic had the cat been owned by your next door neighbour.
I know that if my neighbours moggy was damaging my P&J I would be seriously pissed off.

yeah i would be annoyed, but its the cats nature and the owner can't change it, i am a cat lover so im biased
They're not fans of garlic either - freaks mine the hell out!!

very fair point and thats exactly why i'm trying to do something about it...but thanks for your helpful input anyways
The owner of the KA did say she hadn't actually seen my cat scratch her roof and only going by what she was told by another neighbour. I had a close look at the roof and theres no signs of any damage whatsoever only traces of fur that had stuck to it.

My point was, that had you posted up saying that your neighbours cat/dog/donkey was doing something to your Supra, my guess is the posts would have been very different with most suggesting you go round and sort them out - call the council - let their tyres down etc.
Now, if you still wish to roll your eyes, please be my guest but before doing so at least read what I write and the manner I write it.

We have 3 cats and I cut their claws so they arent too sharp, just use the correct cutting tool sold at pet shops/vets etc.
