I will soon be fitting quite a large system in the Supra and dont think my standard J-spec battery (more like a AA size!) will cope with the extra demand.  What are my options?

Can I just stick on a UK sized battery and do they put out more juice?

Can anyone with a few amps in their car tell me what your using!?

just for info the battery in my old Supra is the same as a Nissan Micra battery so its probably one of the smallest ones you can get.

You can probably fit a full sized battery in there, but you will need to adapt the mounting bracket that goes over the top as it is the perfect size for the Micra battery, so you just need to snip off one of the holding plates, or possibly both...or the other option is to get one of the larger battery brackets from Toyota or from a Scrappie.

Maybe but the terminal posts are reversed.

Lets try to paint the whole picture.

Exide Maxxima, that has 'universal posts' also.

Get the Optima R34 Orange Top, that has the correct terminal posts.

Sorry, my mistake, what I should have said was...

Optima yellowtop slots straight in... but you need to turn it the other way around to the stock battery.

Not wanting to HiJack Barry threads.... But thats the Admins perogative (hope thats spelt right for the english lit brigade) :)

I'm leaving the Sup 2/3/4 weeks at a time without running it, and am finding even my new battery is flat..

Should i disconnect it each time i park it up, or can i get some kind of 'disconnector' rather than attacking the battery with a spanner each time.

(Sorry Barry)

Dean...

Dean - I'll let you off just this once! :)

I remember seeing a little device a while ago in some magazine, I cant remember what its called but its sits in the Negative lead comming off the battery.  When you stop, just pop up the bonnet, then you just pull the middle section of this 'thingy' out (like a fuse I suppose!) thus disconnecting the battery.  I think it was advertised as more of a security feature as it means you have no power to start the engine, but I think it will do what you need it to do.  I'll see if I can find it for you.!
