Anyone still interested who hasn't seen the details check out the big banner at the top of the forum ;)
To those already signed up, what time do we want to get to the Pod ? By my reckoning it's going to take us close to 3 hours to get there, so we'll need to factor that in.
Those that I know of:
Wez_P
Dodgy
Sharpie
Pixelfill
mrmward
I'm thinking same procedure as JAE last year meet up at Mascrat and convoy down from there. Where are you coming from Peter?:
Anyone else who's signed up and wants to convoy down - make yourself known :hi:
Mike
Where are you coming from Peter?:
West of J27 (M6) so, not too far away.
sounds good Mike.
what time does it all start at the pod?
Think im gona come as a spectator,
Anybody fancy giving me a lift down?
ta
Matt

i don't fancy getting up too early! if we met at Mascrat at say 7.30-8 & get to Pod for 10.30-11 is that early enough?
i also wondered whether to head down the night before & stay at the Travelodge at Toddington Services where they're all convoying from in the morning? it's currently £39 for a room (can sleep adults)

cheers Wez!! o.k then but you can pay my repair bill!!!!!
I'd offer but, only have one seat in the car at the moment.

Theres a "slight" chance i may be coming to this after all. Hopefully getting my car back tomorrow all fixed. Would still be a bit worried about thrashing it so soon after getting it back, plus im supposed to be going to Old Trafford on sat to watch utd v boro so would have to give my ticket up.

like that's a hard decision?!

The sign-on at POD starts at 9am....getting there for ~11 ish is a little late if you are a runner since, they normally close for 1hr (1-2pm for lunch) so, you would only get from 2-5pm running :(

I did think the Toddington stop over sounded like a reasonable idea, but I'm a bit worried about the security for the Supes.

yes i'd wondered about that, but i'm sure we could either ring them to see if they have any secure parking or see if there's anywhere else nearby that has? i'll have a ganders on lastminute later/tomorrow
originally thought toddington stop over was a great idea but then realised the girlfriend has got tickets to see blood brothers on the friday night. :(
I assume there will be some people that go and stay over and some that want to meet somewhere!
Do we want to swap some tel numbers so we can get hold of people? I for one have no ones mobile numbers?!

Ok upgrades on hold, i've signed up :) so you can all watch me drive a 300 mile round trip to get spanked by a stock N/A probably :D

I'd love to, but I'm absolutely broke this month. I can only just afford the fuel to get there & back. I've had far too much to pay for this month - tyres, mot, tax & insurance all needed doing this month on top of everything else.
Really looking forward to meeting up with everyone though.
Just polishing the old track day helmet :D Have you guys got one?

No, only BPU :innocent:
I will bring my video cam which, I won at work. I have just got a clamp so, hope to fit it onto my harness bar for in-car action and got an old tripod off my grandad for some static filming on the start line.
Not sure how good it will be as I have never used it before (or anyother)
I'll be bringing my cameras  ,
Nice one Rob, good to see the North West can be relied upon to support the bigger club events. Shame that Matt has let us down ;) (sorry mate that was a little below the belt)
Rob - is Anna coming or do you have a spare seat :innocent:

I though it was the rules? 5th paragraph down?
This is a private club event and entrance is by invitation only. All club members are automatically invited, but those wishing to attend must add their name to the calendar list clearing stating how many guests they will be bringing with them.
Participation in this event is by pre-arranagement only, and is on a first come, first served basis. Payment to paritcipate is required to secure your place.
All participants must be aged 21 or over. Please ensure you bring along your driving license as either the club officials, or Santa Pod staff, may ask to check this before you are allowed to participate.
Participants will be asked to provide us with the license plate number so that the security guard can check you are allowed on the track. Spectators not attending in a Supra should bring along their membership card to ensure they can get past security.
Participants in this event will be expected to abide by the terms & conditions stipulated by Santa Pod Raceway Limited. This includes wearing a helmet if your expected terminal speed is in excess of 100mph.
All members, including their guests, are expected to behave in a suitable manner at all times. Any behaviour or driving that is likely to bring the club into disrepute, or causes danger to another member or their guests, will result in the member and their guests being asked to leave the event with no recourse to a refund from the club.
Any members or guests who bring along children are reminded that this is a motor sport event and therefore has the dangers associated with any motor sport. All children attending this event must be under constant adult supervision.
This is an alcohol free event! No alcohol is allowed on the site – this includes for guests and non-participants of the events. Any participants suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be refused access to the track with no recourse to a refund from the club.
There will be a 20mph speed limit imposed whilst driving around the site. There is to be no racing, doughnuts, wheel spins, skidding or any other unacceptable driving whilst on the site, with the exception of participating in the drag race event itself.
You are not allowed to bring or use any cooking equipment (BBQs, gas stoves etc) as Santa Pod prohibits this. Santa Pod will be either opening their café or a food van for hot food and drinks. You may bring along cold food or soft drinks as long as you collect together your rubbish and take it home with you.
The club has already paid Santa Pod the full amount to secure the booking; therefore we will start collecting the money from people wishing to participate straight away. Spectators can pay in advanced but they are also allowed to pay at the gate.
No refunds will be given if you fail to attend the event, or if you are refused access to the track for any reason.
Althought the club has secured cancellation insurance for this event, there are many terms and conditions for the policy that could mean we get no pay out even if the event is cancelled. Therefore you should assume that if this event is cancelled, and the club is unable to receive a full refund from Santa Pod or the insurers, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY!
By agreeing to these terms and conditions you further indemnify the organisers from and against all legal liability in respect of any costs, claims, damages, demands, penalties, actions, proceedings, suits, losses or expenses in respect of or arising out of the injury to or the death of any person, or damage to any property arising from your participation in the activity.
I'll be bringing my cameras  ,

I though it was the rules? 5th paragraph down?
I asked this question in the chit chat thread :
okay, got some more answers
1) crash helmets - they are still being relaxed about this. If you are running 120mph terminals then expect to be asked to use a helmet. Below that and you 'should' be okay unless you are snaking up the track like a loony. So crash hats are optional for most BPU people.
2) camping - they are actively considering letting people camp over on Saturday night. HOWEVER, the gates will be locked at 6pm and you wont be able to get out. THey will confirm if its possible shortly.
3) we will be looking to start the drag runs for 9.30am, gates will open at 8.30am
4) the whole pit area track side is available for us to use as we see fit. We may keep a small area set aside for 'gorgeous cars' and for one of the traders and their winebego. The rest of it we will allow free reign for supra parking.
5) apparently when the RWYB days are on the whole 'fire up lane' contains about 150 cars, so we should fill that lane up to about half way, which means a seriously quick turnaround for competitors. Sort of like it was when RWYB first started.
any other questions?

I asked this question in the chit chat thread :
Ah not read that thread TBH but was just going off what a mate of my said about pod and the rules in the thread but if that is the case then may be not bother :) But looking at monkeymark thread most of the singles terminals are over 120  so i think i'll keep mine on :) Was going to say i have a couple of helmets if anyone wants to borrow one :)

I haven't got one Rob, so if your head is as big as mine I wouldn't mind borrowing a skid lid for the runs ;)
Mik
Mike have you seen that photo? :p
Have you guys decided if you are going down on friday night or meeting at Mascrat?
I haven't got one Rob, so if your head is as big as mine I wouldn't mind borrowing a skid lid for the runs ;)
Mik
Yeah no problems matey :) im sure it will fit tbh don't mind anyone borrowing either of them whilst there doing their runs :) I have a full suit and gloves set but i think ill leave them at home :) Always feel a bit of a tool whilst driving in it :) the best was a few years ago when i got pull in it on the way back from a track day the coppers faces was a picture :D
i'd read that bit about 120mph terminals being more likely to require a helmet, but was going to take it anyway
i've managed 116mph with mine BPU so i'm sure you'll have no probs hitting 120mph
Can anyone lend me a helmet????? I feel left out:(
i've got a spare but it ain't the fanciest, as in it's a tatty old one, but it'll do the job ;)
On a serious note however, whos taking me down?!?!?!?!?!
can you be at Mascrat? think my passenger seat is free, but none of that gay music you were playing at Mascrat, deal? bring a movie or something!
Mike have you seen that photo? :p
Have you guys decided if you are going down on friday night or meeting at Mascrat?
if i knew the car was safe on the fri night somewhere then i'd be happy to head down the night before, otherwise it looks like an early start
how about if we aimed to leave Mascrat by 7am? then, 140-160 all the way there means we could have breakfast at Pod before the racing starts ;)

I'll leave a good 2 hours before that then and you boys can catch Grandpa up somewhere around th M6 toll. :senile:
Mike
!! Why bring me into this!!:innocent: :d
Anyway, what time we meeting Sat? :search:
Thanks wez, cheers fella!!
I'm kinda torn on this, because I'm hopeless at getting up early, but don't want to have to plant it on the way down, it's gonna be heavy enough on fuel as it is.
We'll want to get to the Pod reasonably early otherwise we'll miss out on a number of runs, or might even have to wait until pod staff have finished their lunch before we can register.
According to the RAC route planner it'll take about 2 hours 40 from Mascrat, so I'd suggest leaving as close to 7:00 as possible. What does everyone think?
Mike
Hmm, thats 10 when we get there? Im gonna have to think on this
one? Thats back of the que? 1-2 hour waiting? lunch before we run? I may leave / set off around 5.30-6,00 from home, get there around 9-9,30.

Yeah can make it Mascrat. Lol, o.k deal! so you want a gay movie instead?!?! :D
DEEP THROAT was mentioned Matt,:innocent: :D :D
Take a drink fella, you might need one:innocent: :rlol: :rlol:

I'd like to get there for about the same time, but working backwards that's a real early start. It has been known for me to see the wrong side of 6:00am but it is rare ;)
I'm happy to set off that early if everyone else is up for it. I know Peter is signed up for the Toddington convoy so will likely be making his own way down unless we all want to aim for that too. It just makes it a very long day
Mike
Peters meeting them at 7-7.30?? WOW, that is an early start?
I,d prefer to go early. JUST GO TO BED EARLIER FRIDAY NIGHT!!
Im up for what ever you guys decide, are you thinking leaving mascrat at 7 is too late? is 6:30 more realistic? how far from mascrat is everyone?
how about if we aimed to leave Mascrat by 7am? then, 140-160 all the way there means we could have breakfast at Pod before the racing starts ;)
Wez dont forget you have some N/A boys with you, youll be at 160 before the N/A has wound the elastic bands up! Also as Matt proved supras dont like 160! sorry matt ill wait for the :slapped:
I am now going to this event. I think you guys are missing out on wanting to leave on Saturday morning. We normally go on the Friday night at about 6.30 to 7 pm. We stay over about 11 miles from Santa Pod. The road is quite, we have a meal at this American road side restaurant and drive around milton Keyens which on a Friday is packed with petrol heads. The travel lodge in Milton Keyens has a car park across the road that normally attracts hundreds of cars. You get up Saturday relaxed, and go for breakfist maybe a little detour for coffee at Turbo-Fit and then Santa Pod. It makes the weekend a nice experience rather than the race down on the morning and the race back after. I would definitly recommend the 1st option

this sounds like a really good idea - i'm going to look into going down the night before to avoid the RIDICULOUSLY early start!!
Leon, is it the Old Stratford Travelodge you're referring to?
can anyone be a backup to give Matt a lift if necessary? i don't fancy spending the night with him as well!
if i do end up going down Sat morning, i ain't fussed about the Toddington convoy, rather just get straight there & set off later!

If i come then it will be early sat morning as well for me.
The travellodge with the American Diner is in Wellingboruogh Rushden and the one in Milton Keyens is Milton Keynes Central. Let us know what you decide. I am leaving Friday morning at 5.30am to get some final tweaking done by Turbo-fit and spend the day there.
What's the best route ?
I have never driven from the North down to POD before.
M6
Toll
M6
M1 -> J15
A45 -> Wellingborough
A509
Back roads to POD
Thats the way I was going to go. Think its sign posted from the M1 J15, what time are you planning on setting off?
Seeing as though it's such a special event i think i'll join everyone and keep up the NW spirit! :D I'll be spectating though as my new clutch only went in last weekend and i don't fancy trashing my car right before the dragonball! :) Think i'll probably be joining the saturday morning gang.. Anyone fancy meeting me at Sandbach services? (inbetween J17 & J16).. It's pointless me driving all the way to mascrat only to come back again.. :)
I think it's going to take ~3hrs to get there if we factor in picking people up along the way, a toilet stop at Norton Canes services on the Toll while travelling at a good pace.
How many runners will be travelling down on the Saturday ?
Sign-on is from 9-9.30 and the first runners on the strip at 9.30.
Where do people normally meet in the Northwest ? The Shell Services at Haydock Island (M6 J23) http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=77480
AA Autoroute says ~2hrs 40mins form the Shell station to POD
I was aiming to get their ~9.30 for sign-on so, that would mean leaving Haydock Island at 6.30am so, we could meet up at the Shell station for around 06:15 ???
Thoughts ?
(apart from fook me that's early)
As people will be joining the M6 at different places would it not be better to meet at a services a bit closer to the M6 Toll, somewhere like stafford or something like that?
I'm happy to meet anywhere :)
I guess for the more Northern folks we could meet at Haydock Island M6 J23 and then swing into Stafford South services along the way :)
sounds good, What sort of times?
I suppose it depends if people that are running are traveling down with us?
I'm a runner ;)
Again going of the AA autoroute, I'll leave Haydock park at 06:30 and arrive at Stafford services by 07:20 and we could leave Stafford at 07:30 which, keeps us on plan for arriving at POD for 09:30.
What do you think ?
that sounds good, as long as I dont have to leave home before 6 then its fine with me, so Stafford services meet at 7:20 to leave at 7:30
I'll go for that... Stafford services at 7.20 sounds do-able to me :)
Are the people coming from Mascrat able to meet at Stafford services at that time?...

Just seeing what possibilities we have with meeting up with the Midlands convoy on the M1 J19.
Not sure if they will be up for it, OR if you guy's are but, thought I'd ask the question anyway since, there could only be 10mins in it :)

so long as we are not pushing the pace too much! One long line of Supras is like a car thief with a big arrow above them to the police.
secure parking is not available at any of the travelodges near to Santa Pod
Wellingborough Rushden is the closest and is still £50 per room
i think i'd rather head down the night before but prob won't set off till about 7ish & arrive say 10-10.30pm?
i'm going to PM Matt to confirm plans now & put us down for the night before :)

Kind of. Chris brought it over on saturday to give it a good road test because the car didnt have the front bumper on so he hasnt had chance to really test it. Took it out and after 20 miles the same prob returned. In a way im kind of glad because at least now he has felt and seen the symptoms for himself rather than me telling him. Managed to drive it back to hyper and left it there. Hes getting back on with it first thing monday.
So yes its running which is something and ive had loads of little electrical faults sorted, which is cool, but its still not driveable really :(

Hes fairly certain its something to do with the airflow, possibly a blown MAP sensor, a dodgy SAFC II. He did mention a few other things but i cant remember tbh. :(
Hi… Saturday was my first time at Santa Pod & I must say it was an awesome day! It was nice to meet new people & put forum names to faces. The convoy down of about 20 supras was an experience too! :) I hope everyone found there way back to the motorway ok with me leading the convoy! :D I did pull over a few times so I hope no one got lost… I can’t wait to go again, I’ve signed my name up for ‘Jap Show’ which is on Sunday 24th June, see this link;
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=96269
Anyone else from the NW fancy going?.. We could have another convoy down. There are practice runs on the Saturday so maybe we could camp and make a weekend of it? :)
:) What happend on "the convoy" home we all got split up early on
Dr Doom has a lead right foot :D
I was doing ~80ish and he left me for dust!
I slowed down with Tony, Ian and Mike to ~60mph waiting for you to catch up but....you never showed Ian.
Mike and I stopped at Corley Services but, I guess you did not stop. I got home for ~8.30.
It was very nice to meet you chaps, thanks for the warm welcome to the NW club  I hope work does not get in the way of the next Mascrat meet on the 14th May.

Well just had a phone call from Chris. He dropped an emanage in today and took it out, unmapped, for about 20 miles and it seemed to be ok. Hes off tomorrow but gonna get one of the lads to take it out again for 20-30 miles or so and if no further probs hes gonna get it on the dyno, map it properly and see what happens. Fingers, and everything else, crossed that there may be some good news after all.
Let me know how much you are looking for for the ultimate. Admittedly i was only going to go for a blue originally cos i dont think id use all the features on the ultimate, but as always, it depends on the price.
Cheers
