As per Billing (JAE) event all shows and future club bookings are £50 per run. (£60 normally)

Yes more than a standard rolling road but others will testify it's a great piece of kit and no worries about tyre slip plus you get 100 people standing around watching :)

Regards
Pete

ps. I'll have to get John to arrange a Dyno day at THOR. (North Coventry)

THOR Racing

How long do the power runs take?

Most of the time taken is attaching the wheels to the absorbers.
The actual runs are over in a matter of minutes. (6 runs in total)

At JAE we were able to get cars turned around every 40mins. (Our aim was 30!)
So this time were are booking every 45mins to allow a bit of breathing space at shows to talk to people about it.

If you want to book a time please choose (nothing booked yet) and email me at peter@thor-racing.com

Regards
Pete

apparently most of the power skylines will be running at this event as well, Sumo, Keith, GT ART etc. So even just as a spectator its going to be great. Keiths skyline is the one that did a 9 sec 1/4 at TOTBii.

Just confirmed my deadline for phoning through numbers is 9.00 3rd October. So any names not posted by 10.00 on Tuesday evening will not be included, and therefore will not be able to park in the designated MKIV Supra Club Area.

Pod staff will post all the stickers to me, on the 3rd. I will pm those on the list who will be expected to send me a stamped address envelope for their sticker. I will post out by return post.

I've been speaking to Lofty from the Ultimate Japanese Car Club and he's found out from Santa Pod that you don't need to buy tickets in advance to get allocated spacing. All you need is the sticker showing in the top right hand corner of the windscreen when you get there. So Terminater, just ask for 30 or something stickers and then send them out to whoever wants them, then if they want to buy the tickets on the day they can.

I want to go, but am skint so have to wait to see if my mate wants to share the petrol costs:D . He wants to go, so when confirmed I'll re post when I've ordered my tickets.

Matt H if your car is ready then I'll have to follow you up there if that's ok, I'm a pod virgin!! If not, who else is going from the Kent area??

Ben..

Matt Harwood
27-09-03, 21:09
I'm sure there will be some convoys on the way up there, but you're welcome to follow me. :)

Roy
27-09-03, 21:24

The man with the money has been allowed to go, i.e. his bird said yes!! So I will be booking tickets tomorrow. So you can add me to the list, a nice space next to the track would be good, I don't like to walk..........

Matt, I need to phone you regards my stereo anyways, but a convoy would be good, I'll phone you during the week.

Bobbeh, I love annoying neighbours, as mine suck arse and are old, so if you have coffee (early morning for me on a sunday!!) I'll help wake up your neighbourhood!!

Shall we fill in these spec sheets (http://www.megaboost.co.uk/misc/supraspecsheet.doc) as were done at Billing? Those of us doing the dyno on the day could fill in the missing details straight after the run. Just an idea.

Justin
30-09-03, 13:39
How are those who are going to launch down the strip and going for dyno runs going to co-ordinate things?

Do we all meet up and park in our allocated spaces first, then join in the racing queues as and when during the day?

Will we be allowed to come and go from our club area dya reckon Termy?

J.:flame Dev

Jive
30-09-03, 13:51
I'm not going down the strip so all I've got to do is get me car to the dyno and back. Hopefully my space will still be there when I've shown the awesome power of me NA on the dyno ;)

I have just booked my ticket and am really looking forward to this one after missing the Gumball.

This will be my first appearance and am a bit scared to go by myself. Does anyone from the surrounding area want to hold my hand and make it a bit of a mini convoy to the pod?

Forgive me if I have missed anyone but a few local names would be:

John K
Jive
Mawby
Ouzolover
Lust2Luv

Please say yes otherwise I will ahve to turn up looking like a loner otherwise. Smoooth:cool:

I will be staying in oxford that weekend and going to pod from there, but you are welcome to join up with me at the top of the a34 :)

Thanks John. Hopefully I can do that with some of the other guys?

But i will also be staying up in london, If i do go.

Sounds good to me. Any more takers? I will definetly meet up with you the John.

If we set a time and place the others can join us if they want and if there travel arrangements are permitting.

Any ideas?

Steve W2

Come to think of it I don't even know wher Northampton is!

Does this mean you want to meet up as well?

Jive
30-09-03, 20:37
I'm gonna be driving up on the Saturday, probably during the afternoon so will meet all people on the Sunday morning.

Pity really cos a convoy there would have been cool :)

SimonB
30-09-03, 21:06
Dunno what I'm doing yet. I drove up to Billing on the Sunday morning which meant getting up very early :( but no traffic at all apart from an M3 to play with :). I definitely "made progress" shall we say...

Should be about 2 hrs 40 travel time from down here Steve (at normal speed). Should shave some time off that though :flame Dev

Might go up the day before though - haven't decided yet...

Terminator
30-09-03, 21:12
As far as I know we will have a space allocated to us and us only. So I can’t see any reason why we should not come and go as we please.

Make sure your name is added to the list by 22.00 Thursday evening, as I will not have BBS access on Friday morning before I make the final phone call.

I will PM those on the list some time on Friday night.

Steve W2
01-10-03, 08:50
Am i the only person travelling to Pod from the place that I actually live in?:)

Maybe you all lead double lives or are very rich and have 2 houses:eek:

Can somebody update the list to include me please. As previously mentioned I will set a place/time with John and post it here for any others to meet up if you want.

Hi Ouzolover

mawby and I will probably be travelling up at around 1.30 - 2pm from hants, not sure what route we're taking as we only started discussing it today due to PM's not being notified :twak:

We'll keep you informed of what's going on and deffo times as it gets closer :)

I'll be taking this route,

M27
M3
A34
M40
A43
M1
A45 (Where the hotel is Mark)
B573
Hardwater Road (on the right)
A509 (South bound for all of 100 yards)
London Road (on the left)
Hinwick Road (on the left as road splits)
Hinwick Road (straight on at sharp left hard corner)
Airfield Road (straight over at cross roads)

There are shorter routes which can be quicker, but they're plauged by hundreds of bloody roundabouts!

millhouse recommended these BT Freeway (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=1001&productId=63100) available from Argos for £59.50.

You get two handsets in the package which you can then pass onto another car :)

I'll let you know what these ones are like after the 12th as I've not had the opportunity to use them yet.

In case people haven't received their tickets yet...

I ordered mine 11 days ago and it still hasn't arrived, so I just rang up Pod. Apparently there was a fire at the Northampton sorting office, so post is being very delayed. Her advice was, if you still haven't received your ticket the day before the event, then phone up and they will print another and have it waiting at the gate.

With regards to stickers, aren't we running out of time to get them distributed? (especially with the odd royal mail strike about) Presumably we need these on the day to be allowed to get to our area? :conf:

Phil (Terminator) will PM everyone on the list when he get's them. We then send him a self addressed and stamped envelope for him to send us the sticker in.

It might be worth you us sending you the envelopes now Phil so you can send the stickers out as soon as you get them.

I'd second that! There are only 6 postal days left. I wouldn't have that much faith in this country's postal service! Unless Phil just wants to post them out and collect some postal money at Pod. I don't think most people would mind paying a quid on Sunday, which should more than cover anyone who doesn't pay (unless of course it rains and no-one turns up!)

mawby
03-10-03, 16:39
No. Club stickers have to be sent to the club organiser for distribution to the club memebers. Otherwise you'd have everyone trying to make out they belonged to one of the clubs so they could get into the club parking area.

Mid'lifecry'sis
03-10-03, 16:42
so why has no one yet sent them out ???? Is this about 28p per stamp? Branners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please read the threads:angry:

Calm down Calm down all is under control:p

I was contacted as PLANNED by Pod this morning I have ordered 40 Stickers. I will be PMing all on the list so you can send me a stamped addressed enevelop.

I should get stickers tomorrow.

You should all have your stickers by mid to end of the week.

If anyone misses this I will wait at the gate for you.

Someone better save me a space.

Off on a 400 mile round trip so no PM ing right now, see you later.

Terminator
04-10-03, 11:13
As far as I know this is not a Club sponsored event, I just offered to register the event to enable us to secure the space. I have already spent enough time on this and don’t really wish to spend much more. To send me a addressed envelop is going to cost you a massive 56p. I have not got the time to address and send out all the letters my self.

I would like to avoid hanging around on the gate waiting for some one, or every one waiting for me if I get held up. So sending them out is the preferred option.

Flood control is going to limit me to one PM per minute so this will take some time.

I will start PMing when I get back home later today, but if any one wants to email(address now active) me from the BBS link it would be much quicker for me, so I can just cut and paste your address in to a forward e-mail.

Terminator
04-10-03, 22:03
The prepaid ticket just gets you access to the club area on the day, runs have to paid for on the day at the gate.

There are a few stickers unaccounted for, so you can still get in the club area if POD will sell you an advanced ticket.

Anyone wanting a sticker, please cut and paste form "quote" and add a number and your club name. I am not trawling through loads of posts looking for names. If you are not on the list you won’t receive details.

First batch of ten E-mails received and returned thanks guys.

Keep them coming.

Its not too late for me to come is it??? If i phone up the pod tomorrow and send you a SAE? What is the quote form btw??

Hi everyone,

Just making some enquiries about this meet, as I've never been to the pod before.

How much do the "normal" tickets cost to get on (not for strip runs or anything)?
Is there any chance of getting a sticker to park with everyone else, on the club stand?
If so is it likelt to be mega busy getting in and out of place to the stand?
How safe is the normal carpark for leaving my car in and just walking around inside to come and see you lot?

Cheers people!

Everyone on the above list should have received and e-mail or PM from me about getting tickets. If not PM me quickly.

If you are going to get into the MKIV members area you need a sticker from me. No sticker and you take your chances in the general public areas.

The remaining three number and tickets are up for grabs on a first come first served basis. Get your name next to a number and PM me. I will only send details to names on the list.

BTW there are a few full PM boxes out there;)

Looks like a big one look forward to seeing you all.

Are they giving us a decent sized parking area? We dont really want a repeat of Billing, where we had to try and fit about 100 Mkiv's onto a bit of grass the size of an 18 yard box :(

Only cars with stickers will be allow in those areas. It should be marked off for us. As long as we have a few people there early it will not be a problem. If they want this event to be a success they should look after the organisations that have prebooked.

Pray for first class service from POD

On Friday I was told stickers were on their way to me by special delivery.

Told yesterday special delivery used and address confirmed. Well nothing so far. Post arrives here about 8.00 so fingers crossed.

Looking at worst case, say stickers don’t arrive today. I am really not that confident in the postal service to leave it until Thursday to post things out. That only gives a window of two days to get them to all of you. This is not good enough.

It looks like at the gate collections.

Any thoughts, about the sticker distribution, not what retribution can be administered parts of my anatomy.

Edit So far I have one envelope from the list:eek:
Post arrived at 07.55 thirteen envlopes from the list.

BUT still nothing from POD:twak: :twak: :twak:

I will be on the phone to them at 09.00

mawby
07-10-03, 08:26
If you post them all out tomorrow (and everyone's used 1st class stamps) then I would expect them to get delivered on Friday, Saturday morning at the latest. If Santa Pod can't get them to you on time then they'll have to hold them at the ticket office along with a list of your forum names and we'll have to collect them at the gate. I don't see why you should be standing there for a couple of hours giving them out. Either that or we take the stickers to the club area and people without them can park in the public area, come and find us to get the sticker and then move their car into the club area as they'll then be able to get past secutiry. Not and ideal solution I know, but it might be the best

lust2luv

Looking at the map, one of the gates does state "pass collection", so I guess it might be possible to have the stickers and a guestlist left there for collection?

Having found no delivery note at home, I phoned POD and the staff member I spoke to was not a happy person. I think she must have had her ear bent by a lot of people today, who are all equally anxious about distributing tickets to other members of their respective groups.

If I can believe what I was told our window stickers when out by special delivery yesterday, they should have been with me by lunchtime but now may arrive in the morning.

The only up side is I expect to receive a lot more of your letters in the morning so may be able to get the bulk of our stickers out in the morning in one go.

As for posting names of those who’s sticker have been posted on, that will be difficult as I only know a few of your real names, most I know as BBS names and putting the two together is difficult at the best of times.

Pod set the deadline of the 3rd for numbers saying tickets would go out the same day. If they had everything would be fine.

I'll see what happens in the morning, if they arrive I will post a list of names to whom stickers have been sent on here early morning.

If you dont want you name left on the list I am sure one of the mod can take it off if you pm them.

If they don't show then the gate list sounds like the only option, but I will have to get POD to agree to do it.

I have all the real names on my laptop so if someone is concerned about ticket delivery, PM me. I would thing anyone who posted there letter on Monday has a reasonable chance of it being with me in the morning.

As always the stock turbo shoot outs are sponsored by Ibrar at www.pro-alloys.co.uk, if you have a spare moment pop over to his site for a look around, some nice cars in the gallery.

I will resurect the Stock Turbo shoot out details and post them on a seperate thread for those who havent experienced it before.

If there are loads of copies flying about we may find our site full of Micras. They should have at least been numbered, So that they could not be so easily copied and used by others as they would have to know the name of the person supplying stickers if challenged by POD.

I sent out one more sticker with tonight’s post. The post master would only grantee Saturday for tonight’s post. The only tomorrow would be 24 hour at £4.00 but I would have to know who and that will be very difficult with all the envelops having real not BBS names.

I don’t want to take responsibility for people not getting their sticker until Monday so will not post any more unless instructed.

I think the remaining ten should be picked up on route or at POD.

Over to you guys what do you want to do.?

Over to you guys what do you want to do.? There's a space on the sticker for reg number, so why not get the ten remaining people to PM you thre reg number and then leave the stickers at the gate if POD will agree to hand them out? Of course, relies on POD being willing to co-operate.

Or, if Pete is willing to help out, we could leave the stickers with him as people have to drive past his dyno before they reach the secure area where the stickers will be required. Maybe he'd be kind enough to look after the last ten until people come to collect them?

That's why your supposed to put your reg on it. However, I agree it would make much more sense for the sticker to have stuck to the inside of the glass, especially as these are just inkjet printed and will run with the slightest hint of rain or the first sticky finger poked up against it.

I'm intending to stick mine to the sun visor somehow so it shows through the glass. I'm definitely not leaving it on the outside.

Looking at the plan, looks like theres a special booth for us to pass through, anybody know if they operate a twin entry lane in to Pod? When we went there in January we all queued up and some people shot up the outside and then cut in for the second booth...be good if we can by pass the peasants in the queue..

JB

mawby
10-10-03, 12:37
I think there's 6 lanes now. The one one the far right is always for outcomming traffic, but then there's 5 others to chose from if they are manned. The one on the far left doesn't look like one but it is, you basically have to drive on the grass to get to it.

PMSL

Stickers may be in the post, I posted the last one out yesterday afternoon just before the post was collected. That sticker should arrive on Saturday morning.

I have Justin’s sticker and eight to give out some how and two spare. All the rest, 28 were posted Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning. I can only match up a few BBS names with real names so can’t help when people post saying that they have not got stickers.

Please send me a PM “ No ********sticker” ---- (insert as appropriate) if you are concerned , giving your real name so I can see if you are on my list of stickers posted. We need to find out if any are not accounted for and stuck behind a desk in sorting office or chewing gummed to my local letter box .

Giving me your reg number may be a good idea to aid distribution on Sunday.

If you can send me a PM “ Yippee Got It” with your real name, if you have got your sticker that would help as well.

Also got an envelope to late to deal with, from Flintshire with a mobile phone number that does not work, and saying a BBS member suggested "Rob" contact me for a sticker for an event at POD on the 25 October. No can do. You can have one of the spare oines for the 12th but it wont do you much good.:p

Do we just queue with everyone else (even though they're going to normal carpark) or do we take a different route in or something? Iknow this was kind of discussed above, but couldn't get my head round what people were saying/describing

There may be queues but they are always moving at a reasonable rate. The problem comes with queueing to actually register yourself to do runs down the strip. Now that's where it's a slow painful process and lots of hanging around.
