I want to run a water supply from the house 1 inch bore riser to a piece of
additional land we have bought, a distance of some 100 or so metres. I
don't want a big flow drop, what sort of diameter pipe should I use
(thinking alkathene type pipe here), and where is the cheapest place to
order from, with some fittings? Thanks.

hi chris , google pipe fittings supplies in your area , push fit plastic should do the job , as long as the pressure isnt to high .
is it going to above or below ground chris as lagging will also be required for the winter time

maybe a daft answer but screwfix do shed loads of stuff like this and it gets delivered to ya door
and by the thread title there was me thinking someone wanted to get some kind of warped cover band for the "Village People" together....
Of course, that is NOT the reason why i actually READ the thread....... :S
Depends on the size of the main comining into your property but if you go with 25mm poly you will be safe.
20 or 25mm alkathene will be fine Chris (you can buy reducers if need be) - try your local Plumb-base (sp?) for the pipe and fittings; Travis Perkins or other builders merchants proabably sell the stuff but generally at much higher prices. Usually comes in 25 or 50m rolls iirc.
If you're running it less than 2' below ground level, then you'll need lagging for it to prevent freezing as well.
