Windscreen Cover?

Whilst removing my wiper arms yesterday, I found a crack in my windscreen that was probably there when I bought the car tbh. It is right at the top of the screen behind the passenger visor, it can't be seen from certain angles but it is about 4" long. I am now worried that this could get bigger and break the screen completely.

Having looked at my glass cover on my insurance, it says I have a £40 excess and that a claim will not affect my NCB.

Excuse my scepticism but where is the catch here??:search:

Also, how much is a replacement windscreen these days? and are there any pitfalls etc?

Thanks

Very expensive I believe. I have had 2 windscreens replaced with a 50 quid excess, no probs. Problem might be it might take a while to get the new screen

Waiting probably wont be an issue. If I hadn't have been leant down at that angle I would never have spotted it.

I take it hey are just clear glass and not tinted?

I think the J spec front glass is brown? best thing is to hold a piece od white paper behind it and look through the glass and see what colour it looks

Thanks for the help guys. This looks like to good of a deal to be true. Wneh I saw the crack I thought it would cost hundreds to fix. £40 excess and the insurance company pays the rest seems extremely generous in this day and age!!:)

I'll give them a ring today!

Thanks
