View Full Version : Sussex Meet - Sat 16th Aug
I'm posting this on behalf of another user\forum.
If you have any queries about this meet can you please PM gtirpad.
Hi all,
Due to the success of the last Sussex meet, there are plans afoot for another, this time on a Saturday. The date is set so that there are no clashes with major events so hopefully there will be a good turnout.
The venue is the Royal Coach on the A259 between Lancing and Shoreham, on the large roundabout next to the Texaco Garage. I reckon if we aim for about 2pm start, that gives everyone enough time to wake up/recover from hangovers etc..
The landlord of the pub has said a BBQ will be laid on if there are enough people and also if we are likely to get in excess of 80 vehicles, the car park will be open exclusively to Jap motors.
There is ample parking off road outside the pub if we exceed this number. Bearing in mind in excess of 50 cars turned out for a Thursday night, I am hoping there will be well over 80 cars.
We would like to get an idea of numbers, so if you could register your interest with a brief reply, it would be appreciated.
I think everyone had a good time last month, its just a meet to kick back, enjoy some food and hopefully some nice Sussex rays.

Well hopefully Adam (red Aerotop from Sunday) might read this and think about joining us. I managed to put 8 faces to names on this board today but there were two I couldn't.
Plus I noticed p00t was online today so he might have seen this and I'm talking to JohnK on MSN at the moment so will mention it to him.
Would be better to have a few of us than just 3 :D

Jive and myself so far, no time has been decided yet. It's a 2pm start - shouldn't take more than an hour to get there from J7 - so how does 1pm sound?
1pm sounds good to me.
You'll have to make allowances for the slow NA though :baa:

Hi all,
The aforementioned meet on Saturday 16th of August is to go ahead as planned for 2pm at the Royal Coach in between Shoreham and Lancing.
It is situated on the A259 coast road on the large roundabout with the Texaco garage. If coming from the A27, take the Shorham exit off the dual carriage way (the one on top of the river Adur) and follow the road into town. Straight over the first mini-roundabout, and right at the second one. This will take you over the Norfolk Bridge and after about 400m you will come to the roundabout upon which the pub is located.
Access to the pub is gained from the left, and A WORD OF WARNING - there is a dip on the entrance, so please approach at an angle if you have a low car to avoid scraping.
NOTE!! - To ensure that we have catered for the numbers for the BBQ, please can you post your interest in the next week, either PM on here or by e-mail to me, including anyone else who may be coming with you. So far I have...

Yep, but its just past Shoreham/Lancing (where the meet is) if you're coming from the west....

Glad to see so many of you are making an effort to come - much appreciated. I would just like to point out (as I will be on other forums) that if the weather is bad (rain) the BBQ will not be started although the meet will still go ahead - the pub serves food anyway so you can still eat!
Realistically I am not expecting this to happen though judging by the current weather forcast

Mark, can I follow you?I have visions of getting lost - beside its much nicer to travel in convoy.
The whole thing starts at 2 doesn't it? and we're going to be no more than half an hour away if we meet up at the bottom of the M23/A23

Yep, no problem - I can either meet you at Hickstead services or in the petrol station right at the bottom of the M23 - let me know what's best. Shall we say 1.30 then?

Hickstead is really easy to find, its basically a Shell station on the M23 - its the first turn off after the A272 (Petersfield) turn off, and has a long filter lane just before hand, you can't miss it.

Look guys, help me out here, I havent a thricking clue where we're going or we're everyone is coming from. And everyone else seems to have gone quiet apart from Mark and Faye.
Im in Basingstoke, is it easier for me to meet the other guys around the portsmouth area, as I thought there was a few of them coming from that direction but no one seems to be answering me, if not Im meeting Faye as she is closer to me, and then onto you Mark, I have visions of me driving half way round the country.

Ash, I guess you have two main options:
1) Up the M3, along the M25 (east) and down the M23, where at some point you can meet Faye and/or myself.
2) Down the M3, along the M27/A27 (east) all the way there, stopping at J7 to meet the Pompey/Scummer (LOL) guys.
Not sure which one's best really, personal preference I guess.
Ash, I've just PM'd you with direction from Basingstoke presuming you've never been as far south as the M27 and also presuming you know the M3, which you must do.
Mate I know the M3 and M27, Im just trying to do too much at once and havent read things properly.
Im meeting Jive, Lee and who ever else at J7 on the M27 at 13:00

if a get my car running again tomorrow i may well pop down to give it a run, i've been commuting in a mini all week which has been fun but the novelty is wearing off (BTW filled up with optimax and i could only get £14.85 in the tank!)

Good to meet some old and some new faces today and finally put names to some more faces on here, apart from Ashley Willis who was out on the lash last night and couldn't be arsed to get up and get his car/act together ;)
Damn fine collection of Sups and also some great other Jap cars.

Was a nice turn out of Supes, and a great opportunity to put some faces to names. Had a lovely drive back and put a BMW driver in his place - a spot in my rear view mirror!! :D

I was three cars behind millhouse when we turned right at the first roundabout, but by the time I got to the next one you two couldn't be seen! Guys, I was a bit p1ssed off I missed this seeing as my alarm actually went off in time, thought I had pressed the snoozde button, and doze for another 9 mins, except the snooze button wasnt pushed. My mate left work at 12:00, as I was suppsoed to pick him up, although we both hadnt got in until 06:00 that morning from our Slinky all nighter, had a great time though, and it was the first time I have been able to go out, so I made the most of it.
Still had a good phone convestion with you guys trying to get my head into gear, you should have seen me, I was a mess :(

Unfortunatly, that was my only free weekend, hence why I didnt roll home from Bournmouth until six in the morning, this weedkend I get the pleasure of working on the last bank holiday of the year. :(

Just a quick one to say thanks to those of you that came to the Sussex meet on Saturday - not quite as many as expected (about 45 at peak) but I guess the crappy weather had somthing to do with that...
It looks like you guys had a good time and I have to say that you are all a credit to your group - an excellent turn out from the Supras which was much appreciated. I must apologise for not saying hello to many of you, by the time I got round to socialising many of you were on your way out. Next time I will make sure I come and say hello.

heh heh, yep it was a bit of a comical moment being over taken by my own tyre :D
luckily the alloy only got very slightly scuffed, the thin bit off rubber around the edge just about protected it, could of been a lot worse. in the end it only cost me 4 hours to complete the journey and £165 for a new tyre :twak:

Yep, that was me, I remeber seeing you and your mate getting into that MR2, only remember it becuase of the air duct thing coming over the top. Me too mate, Im always popping into town, round my mates, it would be good to race ya, at least you will be worth racing, compared to some of the shit I get around town. Cant wait for the rainy season, I always go up to Brighton Hill retail park at night when the car park is empty, and doughnut it round and round outside Pizza Hut, everyones faces while their having dinner is just comical.......

Shaf, I suggest you pay Mr Branners your tenner mate, as you have hit your post limit. It'll be good to have another Basingstoker on here........Your PM will still work, so you can PM him.
tell me about it, theres not much to race around. well there's a blue evo7 but i think 4.5secs to 60 out of the box is a bit much to keep up with in mine especially given it's 4wd :(

Stock is 4.9 or 5.0 depending where you get your stats. But I have de-catted, and lightened flywheel, but all they probably counter act my sh1t driving, so Im not bothered, just like to have fun.
Although Im not booting at the moment, not until my FMIC is fitted and I know the temps are reduced a bit.
he he, so if you're slow off the line, i might have ya with my mods (2x10 inch subs, 3 amps, go faster stickers and a max power blow up doll)..... bring it on.

Hey, those blow up dolls have got to be good for a few BHP, as with the stickers, I have seen it before with the Nova Boyz, their stickers let them caine anything on the road :sly: :p ;)
