Tyres ... thockathockathockathocka

I had to do some harsh braking the other day (thanks to a BMW with two malfunctioning brake lights and no indicators making a sudden turn). The fronts locked up for 2-3 meters, and since that (noticeable when I drove off) there's a slight 'bump-bump-bump' when driving - much like unbalenced wheels at speed, but generally between 10 and 40 mph, and feeling around the once-per-revolution mark.

I can see two possibilities here;

1. I've taken some rubber off my tyres, and they're out of balence.

2. I've got a flattened spot in the tyre from where they locked.

Although I've had a good look at the tyres and there appears to be no damage, what are the options if it's point 2 (which I suspect it is)? I assume 'get new tyres', but would swapping the backs and fronts make a difference? And would they wear back to an even shape over time?

For reference they're Kumho 16" 225/45s all round (yeah - it was after christmas, I was out of cash, and really needed tyres for an MoT) ... never had the problem with the old Bridgestones after locking up under braking :(
