I'm sorry but I'm fed up with the supra :(

along time ago i went single had loads of probs which took an age to sort out. But I'm still just not happy.

the car has soo many niggles I just don't know where to start. one thing on it's own is ok, but it's death by a thousand papercuts now.

we have :

1) Cat sepereated from car, replaced with decat and that keeps breaking away from the zaust no matter how tight i clamp it.

2) the front bumber is rattling like mad by the passenger door

3) the carpet's got a big hole in it.

4) it just doesn't feel right under acceleration

5) i think the front shocks are on their way out.

6) the master caution light is always on - since going singleturbo.

7) the body work isn't upto much

8) I have no idea how the profec stuff works !

i just want to wave a wand and it all be sorted :( Each time i look at it i just want to buy a focus.

but i do love driving it !

New shocks, new/2nd hand carpet, read the instructions on the profec, check fault codes on the MIL, take pics of the decat pipe to exhaust join, maybe we can look into it for you?

Sort those out and thats a major part of the list, and maybe the 'not feeling right' will be sorted.

Perhaps also tighten the subframe bolts up, might help.

Oh mate sorry to hear you are fed up with all those small things. My supe have too many small things to gather in one list but you see, I have different approach - I'm just slowly repairing one thing after other. Luckily for me, technically car is sound (touch wood) so it is 1000's of small things, which i can repair/correct myself. And honestly, what would u do, if your Supe would be all perfect? :p Die from boredom? Or sell her?

Paul,

I'm in the same boat.

Need new suspension plus bushes, arms and the like. Need a full diagnosis but looks like a lot of parts will be required.

Autobox still to be fitted.

Losing oil. Warning light at 3000 miles from full oil swap! Possible stem seals or turbo seals.

Need cam belt changing and most fluids.

Also have a ticking noise which is causing concern.

Plus car is generally tatty. Needs some dings filling and a full respray, wheel refurb and interior spruce up.

I'm not enjoying it TBH.

NOOO!! You cant give up on it for a focus!

Come on! The rattle bumper, take it off see whats lose and refit it, easy job.

Carpet, you can get a black one from one of the traders on here and have it in the same day you do the bumper.

The exhuast, hey you can buy a used blitz exhuast for around £450 if you shop around

So already thats some things sorted.

The master light, surely just take it to a place that does single conversisons and ask them whats up with it?

You know itl be worth it as soon as its all together, but i do know how you feel thanks to past projects! But its a supra!!:)

Paul i know how you feel. About an hour or two ago i have got closer to putting the car up for sale as it's drained me of money and she still not right

Sorry to read this. Seems to be quite a few people who've had difficulties after they've decided to go single. I was tempted last year, but just forking out for shocks, cam belt, water pump, air con, brake disks etc in the last 6 months has drained me of money, let alone single turbo problems

We expect a lot from our supra's but tend to forget that a lot of them are more than 10 years old. My NA is 1 93, nearly 14 years old! but how many other makes/models of that age could you boot along a motorway at 120mph + and know nothing will fall off or go bang??

btw, when was it last serviced? You could take it to a specialist jap garage, get a full health check :doctor: work out exactly whats wrong with it, go through the list and work out if it is worth the hassle/cost. If not, sell it on, get another supra that is sound, not been played with too much. It seems you have taken this one as far as it will go and perhaps its time to spice things up with a new project ?? ;)

Whatever you do, PLEEEESE stay with Supra's  you know how awesome and fun they can be. Hope you make the right decision, whatever you do.

Loads and loads of them mate... :(

A long time back a young Mr C Wilson explained to me that you either do it properly or not at all...

At the time his definition meant approx £25000 (!) to make it bombproof

Now admittedly Chris is a perfectionist... but the more I read the better I feel about keeping the twin system (although I was going to go single end of last year...and reappraised my priorities!)

Everything else is compromise - and you must expect problems - or have a load of cash to throw at it to do it right in the first place (All IMHO of course)

The sad reality is you really need to know and understand a few basics when going single. In recent times many people have tried the cheapest routes and have come unstuck.

There are however many single cars running perfectly (the ones you don't hear about).
