Bought some Alpine E series speakers today, their pretty good, not sure how much better over stock they are yet as only just fitted them but after ive replaced the front too i may see a difference. What you think?;

Didnt fit straight in, had to make two new holes but went well in simply enough, altough its tight in the there so over tightening the screws led to the new speakers pushing against the frame

Nice! I've just ordered some Infinity ones. Did you have enough wire to play with once the old ones were removed Matt?

cheers guys, depends what your doing with the wire, my new speakers simply accepted the original connectors so it was plug and play apart from the two extra holes

Looking good matt :) Do you think there is enough room back there to fit some 6X9 with a custom bracket?

im not 100% its pretty tight in there, altough the bracket is quite large, its just what space you have behind it. its dead easy to get in behind the cover, just pull it off and thats it, just snaps into place. I think getting the bracket out might involve removing the plastic trimming which might involve remove the seats?

Do the covers just pull off? Is there risk of breaking the clips?

They fit nicely. I want to do mine at some point, mine are stock, 11 years old and distorted by 5 years of trance :D

Very unlikely the covers are held in by flexible metal clips that just bow inwards when you pull them out (that made no sense). Basically they are made to be removed.

2 things Matt, be careful with that Wheel cleaner on your Alloys, make sure it's safe, and also I'm sure it says "keep bottle/pack upright" for a reason :D

The alpines look good mate, I thought about getting a set for mine.

the covers come off really easily mate, just lever a flat headed screwdriver behind and prise them off.

problem you may have is if it has the original speakers in, which have a tendancy to be glued into place (i had to put a claw hammer through mine and rip them out)

I've just upgraded my front speakers, which sound fantastic.

I will have a look to see if I've got the rears connected, cos I don't think I have!

Nice. I always thought the rears could accomodate 6x9's as standard - darn it!
