Hey all,

I have just bought a new, non-brand!, double din headunit and am going to *try* and install it myself.

Currently I have a japanese double din JVC CD/Minidisc unit, I cant remember the exact model at the moment.

My question is, what kind of adapter/connectors will I need to wire this new one up? Please see the image for its connections.

I'm also guessing I will need to make my own switch for the power aerial to go up and down..?

I'm assuming you just want to connect your existing speakers and the power supply. If so you just need to use the group of wires on the right.

Normally there would be a nice plug on the end of the wires on your new unit which would enable you to use the Autoleads PC2-17-4 adapter which would plug into the car wiring.

Like this :

The radio end has the standard ISO connector.

It looks like from your pic that the new head unit doesn't have the mating ISO connector which is unusual. You can buy this from your local Maplins store, it's basically the ISO connector that you need with wires coming it from it which you need to connect to the wires coming from your head unit (soldering is better)

So you'll need to buy the PC2-17-4 adapter and the one from Maplins.

If its just lose wires from the back of the headunit but standard iso connector in the supra then you need a toyota adapter from halfords then match the wires up and plug it in

Id suggest getting someone that knows what there doing as theres a good chance of blowing it up!

I connected mine up last weekend:)

A standard iso connector in the Supra suggests it's already got the toyota adapter! :)

Cheers guys. I will have a look what is already in the car and go from there.

I'm thinking it might be an idea to get a blank ISO connector and connect the radio to it to it will be like a normal radio plug.

I'll let you know how it goes!
