How much to get 380-400bhp

On a standard engined jap spec twin turbo maual. What sort of money(approx) will it cost to get 380-400bhp and will that sort of power be reliable?

Obviously different garages, differing cars (unmovable first cats etc) would make the cost vary, but what would be a sensible amount of labour time a garage would charge to fit all of the above?

Your'll need to increasse the boost to, on the cheap £20 for bleed valve but you may adjust it to much and have to replace far far more expensive parts, so electronic boost controllers start at £140, if your std SMIC is old it's best to either get a new SMIC(£250) or a FMIC(£300)

you wont need to adjust the boost that is what the restrictor ring is there to stop, just get a 1.1 bar restrictor ring and in colder wather you'll boost closer to 1.2bar anyway. So you dont need to spend loads of money at first for that initial power increase.

Check the condition of your SMIC like cashpoint says though.

So £1200 - £1350 would be plenty then...Good bang for the buck then.

Its great bang for buck and completly transforms the car IMO.

...and a boost gauge to monitor things (£100+), an EGT (£130+)or AFR gauge (£200+) would also be a good idea.

Last week I've been in contact with Chris Wilson on exactly this subject. With the exception of the pump this is more or less what he recommends. As somebody has already said the restrictor ring will limit boost to 1.2 bar. He recommend HKS Hyper Silencer or Trust Power Extreme 2 exhaust. Also check out your intercooler condition.
