Havard
My car has 8.5" wheels all round and I was wondering what are the maximum tyre widths I could get on them? At the moment I have 235/40/18" all round. The car handles very well but i wanted the rears to be fatter!! Is it possible to get 255's on them or 245's would be good too? H. EDIT - I have done a search and bnot found anything specific to 8.5"s before anybody says "Do a search!!"

juanchan
How do you find out the width of the wheel without removing the tyre? I thought the 8.5" etc was measured from the inside edges of the wheel? Seeing as I've got almost identical wheels and all to you H, , I've got 265's on the rears with 235's up front.
Havard
i have/had 255's on my last set of 8.5" wheels, which I'm actually trying to sell.., Shameless plug there Heckler! How do you find out the width of the wheel without removing the tyre? I thought the 8.5" etc was measured from the inside edges of the wheel? Seeing as I've got almost identical wheels and all to you H, , I've got 265's on the rears with 235's up front. My wheels actually state 8.5" on them. If you look closely between the spokes there are numbers moulded into the casting. Thanks for the reply's guys. Will get some prices for 255's then on the rear. May stick with 235' on the front!! H. I managed to get Eagle F1 GSD3's in 255/35/18 for £316 a pair fitted. didn't think that was too bad for F1's
Havard
I am not sure what make to go for tbh. It has Continental's on at the moment but they have about 3 - 4 mm left on them. The car is a NA too so I wouldn't expect to be wheel spinning too much!! The MOT is in August so I would expect them to need replacing by then. H. H. well, if you want a cheap set i'd go for Falken FK-452's or if you want a better tyre for more cash i'd go for the F1 GSD3's.
